Cutting your teeth in the DJ scene means that you worked your way up as a DJ from the bottom of the totem pole playing all the worst spots to working your way up, to playing the main stages. Most artists don't wanna take the time and effort required to work their way up through meeting people, getting the worst timeslots, and not making any money. Yet, sometimes when you want something so bad you are willing to do the dirty work to come out clean on the other side.

Lupe Fiasco had a song entitled, "Hip Hop Saved My Life" back in 2007. It talks about how music saved his life and kept him on the right track. Music can help people get out of a dark place. Sometimes making music and following your passion can change the direction your life could go. Today, I have a guest who, even though he was bullied for being different he doubled down on music and left his hometown to completely change his life. Following your passion and always believing in yourself no matter what can make you the first in many different ways.
