In this episode LRXD connected with Media Executive and L.A. Artist Rick Robinson. 

Originally from the small agricultural town of Lodi, CA, his Central Valley work ethic pushed him through junior college (where he worked, swing shift, in a steel mill) on to SF State University where he studied fine art and advertising.  Primitive iconography coupled with a love of billboards and pop materials have driven Rick's aesthetic sensibilities ever since. 

 

In his own words

I have always been taken by shapes, icons and the power of color in public spaces. This instinct led me to a career in the OOH Media business and also that of a sculptor. This past election cycle it all came together – inspired by the abundance of fist stencils in Hollywood after the demonstrations last summer – and manifested into a national poster campaign in support of a non-profit driven to register voters.
