Tune into this short clip from our interview with Nel Taylor, Founder & Steward of Now This Consulting, who shares their story about overcoming stigma around your past experience and owning your history.

Guest Bio: Nel Taylor
Nel Taylor, a member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, is a nonprofit development, equity, HR, and fundraising strategy consultant with over 10 years of nonprofit experience, and is now the founder and steward of Now This Consulting where they help organizations operationalize anti-racist principles into their HR, leadership, and fundraising policies and practices.
Their introduction to nonprofit work came out of their transition from houselessness when they were 18 years old, advocating as a program participant in fundraising efforts. After experiencing exploitation at the hands of the nonprofit industrial complex, they set out to shift traditional harmful practices in fundraising, and later the internal systems that perpetuate harm throughout the nonprofit sector.
Still in their first year of business, they have consulted with the Portland Parks Foundation, Farmers Market Fund, 350PDX, and Sex Worker Affirming Advocates. They previously served as Interim Co-Executive Director at Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon, as well as the Individual and Corporate Giving Lead; served as Board Chair at the Circus Project, and graduated the Art of Leadership program through Regional Arts and Culture Council, the certificate in nonprofit fundraising course at Willamette Valley Development Officers, and the Certificate of Managerial Resilience course at The People’s Nonprofit Accelerator, where they also serve on the Board of Directors.
Their firsthand experience working within non-hierarchical organization structures, co-leadership models, and shared power systems, as well as being an impacted community member with lived experience of relying on the support of nonprofits, uniquely position them to guide organization leaders through the reckoning required for systems-change.

Tune into this short clip from our interview with Allison Cook, Owner of Allison Martin Studios, about how to get out of a creative rut.
Catch the Full Episode with Allison Cook, "Entrepreneurship for the Creative Soul"
Connect with Allison:
Guest Bio: Allison Cook
Allison is the owner and creator of Allison Martin Studios. Spending the majority of her career in the legal field, taking on various administrative roles, Allison found herself constantly burned out. In need of a creative outlet, Allison created Allison Martin Studios and it eventually evolved into a small business. In the midst of a global pandemic, Allison found candle making, and that is where the heart of Allison Martin Studios truly started. AMS creates hand poured beeswax candles that burn clean, are scented with aromatherapy grade essential oils, have crackling wood wicks, and can be enjoyed by anyone, including people with sensitivities to fragrances. Social and environmental responsibility, and transparency, are key in every aspect of Allison Martin Studios because people matter and this planet matters. When Allison is not creating and dreaming up new ideas, she is probably laughing at an inside joke with her sister, enjoying a cup of fair trade coffee, or talking about books with a friend.
