Unlike with copyright, a trademark owner really does have to police the use of its mark to ensure it doesn't lose its rights. That said, policing can go too far, and with at least 25 extensions or oppositions filed by Take Two Interactive in the last three months alone, the question becomes: "Are they going on a rampage or are simply "rockstars" of trademark law?".
