Jesus, in predicting his own rejection and suffering, points to that of certainty of our own, and with that clearly stated, instructs us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow. The Christian life is not easier than that of a non-believer. In fact it faces more opposition, but it is one in which the prize makes the journey more than worthwhile.
