World: A system of values in opposition to God.

1 John 5:19 "We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one."

John 15:18-19 "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own."

Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."

1. Beware of Spiritual Hostage Takers.

1 John 2:16 "For everything in the world-the lust of the flesh, theist of the eyes, and the pride of life--comes not from the Father but from the world."

2. Break Free by loving for Jesus.

1 John 2:17 "The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever."

Focus on the eternal.

Trust Jesus not the world.

Find rock solid spiritual friendships.
