Cheryl Ginnings is a global radio host, international bestselling author (three times), speaker, coach, and consultant. She was raised in a minister’s family where she learned early how to help and care for others and those with needs. Now she’s been married to a minister for fifty-three years and they have three children—Blake, Amy and Brooke. Blake has cerebral palsy and has been her driving force for her helping those with caregiving issues, disabilities, and how to coach them through some of there greatest challenges. She’s been a contributing writer to magazines for forty years and has recently been in ten books—including her own, It Takes Courage to be a Caregiver. Her radio program Courage 2 Overcome is on Bold Brave Media Mondays at 9 o’clock eastern and focuses on helping caregivers stave off burnout.
Medical professionals tried to force Cheryl to sign a DNR for Blake and treated as if she should ignore him—and all those comments and treatment are what have fired her up to stand up and find her voice to stand your ground, and now she shares this passion and journey with other caregivers to help them vocalize as well.
Cheryl sees a lot of people struggling with the “why has this happened to me” mentality when it comes to caregiving, traumatic life events, and daily struggles. She challenges you to ask something different—Why not me? Why aren’t you strong enough to step up and into challenge to help yourself and others? Things out of your control are always going to happen. When that happens your choices are to become a better person, or a bitter person. Again—it’s up to you to step into your space and choose to be better, and that decision can help you and others a lot more than the alternative.
