So far in Micah, God has tasked him with challenging God’s people to understand how they have turned their backs on God’s offer to love and protect them. And as he reminds them, there will be pain before they can understand this joyful relief (Micah 5:1-5a). What is the joyful relief? In Micah 5:2, he points to Jesus – the one to come who will save them from themselves.
