By by Alex Green Looking at the world after exiting a cult and exploring how we find our beliefs
The podcast currently has 13 episodes available.
Solipsism - the quality of being very self-centred or selfish.
There’s a lot of talking, but not much listening, how can we ever achieve change to the political system by talking?
Learning clever words - does it enhance the debate or distance those who are not as well read, should language be kept simple, are we alienating the very people we want involved in these debates?
Who is calling the shots in our political elites? It seems as if our politicians are not interested in what the people say.
The opposite of listening is bringing in hate speech laws, which criminalise criticism of the very issues our governments have created
The problem with defining hate speech and investigating is that anyone can be offended by certain points of view
We all spend too much time focused in on ourselves, which has crated the issue with identity which sets us against each other because it creates conflict
The selfish nature of living with a chronic health condition. The moral burden of needing a transplant. The altruistic nature of organ donation.
Join me for some more rambling thoughts on various topics.
* Health update - life on the waiting list.
* What it means to lose faith and what I’ve lost in the process.
* Emerging secular cults which have taken up the mantle of existing religions.
* The madness of the progressives.
* How we can bring change to society.
This episode I think about the influence of mobile phones on our beliefs. Is spending large amounts of time on mobile phones good for children or adults? The internet - is it a force for good?Modern news sources - such as social media. The messaging around the Palestine protests. How our friends should challenge our beliefs.

Welcome to Taking the Pee Episode 5 conversations about life, health and overcoming the challenges we face on our individual journeys. This time I speak to David Beddow about surviving covid. David grew up in Stamford, Lincolnshire, then moved to Buckfastleigh in Devon. He met his wife in 2001 while she was working in the UK and they got engaged in 2002. Her contract ended and she returned to South Africa, so David moved there where they got married. They returned to the UK in 2017 for his wife's work and their son was born in 2018. In March of 2020 the family returned to Cape Town just before lockdown restrictions came into force. David went into hospital for a routine course of antibiotics to treat a wound on his foot and during his treatment he contracted covid 19 and became extremely unwell. David subsequently became critically ill and spent the next few months in intensive care. David has made a remarkable recovery and can now share his experience with us. Please note that there are descriptions of medical procedures and frank discussion about suicide and a near death experience. So if you're sensitive to these topics be warned.
