so for this piece this is called diminished response and it was one of the first recordings i ever did actually one of the first musical pieces ever did what i was exploring at the time was how you know you meet some people don't you who are they have a singing way of talking and certain dialects like the scottish highlands they speak in a very sing-song type of delivery and i was wondering about

um if i could make a song out of just spoken word rather than tuneful words if you see what i mean just kind of playing around with those ideas and what happened i overlaid um tracks of me talking and um what happened is uh discordant episodes that give a really exciting sense of anguish i think and this is a love song it's a love song about when you love somebody so much that you um you really you it's almost impossible to express how you feel about them you just want to hold them and touch them and just to be with them in their presence um and yet what comes with that is this aching anxiety that you could lose them and you know

without um i think true love always comes with that energy suddenly for me i'm i may not be normal but comes with that energy of fear that um this love is fleeting and this love can end through no fault of your own or or not of your own volition what i mean it that's that's how it made me um feel about love at the time i think i was in love at the time when i wrote it um so it's called diminished response and it is a love song and i hope you like it so let's have a listen shall we
