October 01, 2021Piano Lesson with Sarnia A Toy No. 193 Fitzwilliam Slow Live Performance Free Class ABRSMPiano Lesson with Sarnia A Toy No. 193 Fitzwilliam Slow Live Performance Free Class ABRSM.hi guys welcome to the telltaler club now in the united kingdom we do an exam a syllabus called the mabrsm which is a piano examination board and um we have a series of um books that are published every couple of years and we can pick um three of our favorites from three different sections for an examination now um in america i think you can set the exams as well because they've started after covid they've started doing distance examinations and so which is really exciting news means you can do them wherever you are in the world and they're highly highly respected however i really don't necessarily um believe in the uh the necessity to take exams to you know to create a fulfilling musician so i'm not um specifically saying that you should do the exams far from it but what i do really like is structured learning yeah structured learning where you create um goals and habits is the best way to learn a musical instrument um the discipline is by far and away the most advantageous way to develop your musicianship okay so i'm a strong believer in that and for that reason i'm going to do um over the coming couple of months the whole list of grade one jello and piano as well as suzuki i do suzuki and the abrsm jazz and classical syllabuses so we're going to be doing them all so lots of hours in the day we can do this you don't have to do them all what i want you to do is pick um your favorites and you can follow me or if you're particularly um able adventurous or have lots and lots of time to spare then you can pick and choose and do as many as you like these recordings will last forever anyway so the piano exam piece um that we're going to uh have a quick listen to now a little chat about is called a toy um and it is number 193 from the fitzwilliam virginal book volume 2. um obviously a children's book um and this is a i i think it's my favorite um of the a section of the the pieces that we have at our disposal but we've got a massive choice um ahead of us now what i've done is i've slowed it down i'm going to play you this very very slowly and the reason i'm doing it slowly is because it's less frightening and we'll be starting slowly and what i'll be doing is i'll be doing the left and right hand separately for you and then you can play the corresponding hand and i've got a lovely method for teaching um a wonderful all-rounded um way of playing uh piano so it's going to be really great fun for us so let's let's have a quick listen and then and then maybe talk about what i think it can offerso if you listen carefully you would have heard that there's quite a lot of um sections that are single-handed so we've got a bit in the right and big bit in the left sort of a kind of um not an echo more of a sort of round um and i think that's um that's really that's really good for us because it means um we can be fairly confident because we're sort of learning repeat motifs and repeat patterns it was a piece it was very sweet wasn't it in terms of um almost uh childlike it was quite childlike but a little bit almost verging on a sort of um uh lullaby nursery song but don't forget i've slowed it down i've played it very slowly there and when we speed it up a bit it uh it sounds a bit more playful so it is quite a playful number and let's look at the title it's called a toy so we can see already that um this idea that it could be perhaps could it be a puppet moving its arms and legs or something something animated definitely i guess you know contemporary toys uh animations and things like that might might be quite good to imagine if you're learning this piece look depending on how old you are you're going to have different ideas about what this piece represents if you're a mom or a dad um you might think very differently to if you're five or six for example um the age for anyone doing a grade one um standard piece really would be um......more8minPlay
October 01, 2021The Children's Bible by Henry A. Sherman 2 God's Gift to Man Free Kids' AudiobookThe Children's Bible by Henry A. Sherman 2 God's Gift to Man Free Kids' Audiobook.chapter 2 of the children's bible by henry a sherman this librivox recording is in the public domaingod's good gifts to man at that time when jehovah made earth in heaven no trees or plants grew on the earth for jehovah had not yet sent the rain and there was no man to till the soil but a mist rose from the earth and watered the ground then jehovah made man out of the dust taken from the ground and breathed into him the breath of life and man became a living being and jehovah planted a garden in eden or in the east and out of the ground he may grow all kinds of trees that are pleasant to look at and good for food also the tree of life and the tree that gives the knowledge of good and evil then jehovah took the man and put him in the garden of eden to till it and to care for it and jehovah gave the band this command you made all you wish from every tree of the garden except from the tree that gives the knowledge of good and evil from this you shall not eat for if you eat from it you shall surely die then jehovah said it is not good for the man to be alone i will make a companion for him so out of the ground jehovah made all the wild beasts and birds and brought them to the man to see what he would name them and whatever he called each living thing that became its name but for the man himself there was found no companion suited to him then jehovah made the man to fall into a deep sleep and while he slept he took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh the rib which he had taken from the man jehovah made into a woman and brought her to the man then the man said because she was made for my body she shall be called woman end of chapter 2....more3minPlay

October 01, 2021Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson Free Children's Books 13-14 Benbow and Black DogTreasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson Free Children's Books 13-14 Benbow and Black Dog.treasure island by robert louis stevenson this is a librivox recording all librivox recordings are in the public domain for more information or to volunteer please visit librivox.org treasure island by robert lewis stevenson read by adrian pretzels chapter 13 how my shore adventure began the appearance of the island when i came on deck next morning was altogether changed although the breeze had now utterly ceased we had made a great deal of way during the night and were now lying be calmed about half a mile to the southeast of the low eastern coast gray-colored woods covered a large part of the surface this even tint was indeed broken up by streaks of yellow sand break in the lower lands and by many tall trees of the pine family out topping the others some singly some in clumps but the general coloring was uniform and sad the hills ran up clear above the vegetation inspires of naked rock all were strangely shaped and the spyglass which was by three or four hundred feet the tallest on the island was likewise the strangest in configuration running up sheer from almost every side and then suddenly cut off at the top like a pedestal to put a statue on the hispaniola was rolling scuppers under in the ocean swell the booms were tearing at the blocks the rudder was banging to and fro and the whole ship creaking groaning and jumping like a manufacturer i had to cling tight to the backstay and the world turned giddily before my eyes for though i was a good enough sailor when there was way on this standing still and being rolled about like a bottle was a thing i never learned to stand without a qualm or two above all in the morning on an empty stomach perhaps it was this perhaps it was the look of the island with its grey melancholy woods and wild stone spires and the surf that we could both see and hear foaming and thundering on the steep beach at least although the sun shone bright and hot and the shore birds were fishing and crying all around us and you would have thought anyone would have been glad to get to land after being so long at sea my heart sank as the saying is into my boots and from that first look on wood i hated the very thought of treasure island we had a dreary morning's work before us and there was no sign of any wind and the boats had to be got out and manned and the ship warped to three or four miles around the corner of the island and up the narrow passage to the haven behind skeleton island i volunteered for one of the boats where i had of course no business the heat was sweltering and the men grumbled fiercely over their work anderson was in command of my boat and instead of keeping the crew in order he grumbled as loud as the worst well he said with an oath it's not forever i thought this was a very bad sign for up to that day the men had gone briskly and willingly about their business but the very sight of the island had relaxed the cords of discipline all the way in long john stood by the steersman and conned the ship he knew the passage like the palm of his hand and though the man in the chains got everywhere more water than was down on the chart john never hesitated once there's a strong scare with the ab he said and this year passage has been dug out in a manner of speaking with a spade we brought up just where the anchor was on the chart about a third of a mile from each shore the mainland on one side and skeleton island on the other the bottom was clean sand the plunge of our anchor sent up clouds of birds wheeling and crying over the woods but in less than a minute they were down again and all was once more silent the place was entirely landlocked buried in woods the trees coming right down to high water mark the shores mostly flat and the hilltop standing round at a distance in a sort of amphitheatre one here one there two little rivers or rather two swamps emptied out into this pond as you might call it......more25minPlay
October 01, 2021Mystery of the Secret Band by Edith Lavell 7 Young Adult Teen Mystery Free AudiobookMystery of the Secret Band by Edith Lavell 7 Young Adult Teen Mystery Free Audiobook.chapter 7 of mystery of the secret band by edith lavelle this librivox recording is in the public domain the abandoned house when mary louise returned to the hotel she found everything quiet she went immediately to the fourth floor mrs hillard was in her sitting room knitting and listening to the radio has anything happened since i left asked the girl early no replied the manager except that another guest has departed your friend pauline brooks came back packed her bag paid her bill and left of course she was only a transient anyway but the hotel is so empty that i was hoping she would stay a while i met her on the street with her aunt mary louise said but she didn't have time to talk to me did you question her about ida's story yes and she said it was true that ida did come into her room to make the bed at that time because she miss brooks had slept late but she did not know how long the maid had stayed because she left the hotel before mrs mcgregor discovered her loss and screamed so it is possible that ida went back into mrs mcgregor's room personally i believe the girl is innocent stated mary louise so do i as i said she has been with me two years and i have always found her absolutely trustworthy it was probably a sneak thief the police are on the lookout for somebody like that did you talk to miss stoddard no i didn't she went out this afternoon she'll bear watching remarked mary louise i think so too agreed the other now tell me what you did with yourself this afternoon mary louise related the story of her visit to margaret detwiler's former boarding house and the scant information she had obtained is center square far away she asked oh a couple hours drive if you have a car but do you really think it would do you any good to go there the girl was probably only passing through and stopped at the post office to mail her letter to the landlady yes i'm afraid that is all there was to it but i could at least make inquiries and after all it's the only clue i have i'd never be satisfied if i didn't do the very best i could to find margaret for her grandparents mary louise stayed a little longer with mrs hillard then she went to her own room to dress for dinner but suddenly she was terribly homesick jane and the boys would be coasting all afternoon she knew for there would still be plenty of snow left in the country and there was a dance tonight at another friends max would be coming for her in his run about she would be wearing her blue silk dress and and her eyes filled with tears wasn't she just being terribly foolish to stay here in philadelphia missing all those good times and for what there wasn't a chance in the world that she'd discover the thief when even the police were unsuccessful but i'll never learn to be a detective until i try and learn to accept failures she told herself sternly and she knew that all things considered she had not been foolish it might be hard at the time to give up all the fun but in the long run it would be worth it she ought to be thanking her lucky stars for the chance somewhat reassured she dressed and went downstairs to the reception room where the radio was playing she found the two walter girls whom she had met at noon time when mrs mcgregor raised to the commotion mary louise greeted them cordially it's beginning to rain said evelyn walder so sis and i thought we'd stay in tonight and try to get up a game of bridge do you play mary lou yes indeed replied mary louise i love it whom shall we get for a fourth mrs hillard mrs hillard doesn't like to play and besides she has to get up and answer the telephone so much that she usually just admits in the evenings maybe we can get one of the fletcher girls no i heard lucy said that they had a date returned ruth walder mary louise looked disappointed she was so anxious to meet all the guests at stoddard house she had an inspiration however how about......more20minPlay
