hi guys welcome to um a little exercise b flat major um one octave in thirds uh this is so good to learn and commit to your muscle memory because it's really going to help with your improvising uh lessons that we're doing it's really good for jazz blues it's a key that comes up a lot it tends to be a key that a lot of us don't use um when we're learning but i want all of my students to be working with these exercises early days from grade one up they're great fun and um we'll just do one octave you know let's not panic too much today and tomorrow we might do the two octaves um so let's have a look b flat major in thirds legato from the grade eight abrsm book but don't be put off by that grade eight you can do this you can do this by ear you can do this um the wonderful thing about podcasting is i give you every instruction necessary for you to be able to do this and you can just practice it over and over again until it's there in your muscle memory remember muscle memory is that thing where you know if you if you need to um leave the room if you're leaving your classroom or you need to go to the loo or something you get up you open the door and you leave the room um you don't think you don't sit there thinking oh right i've got to stand up walk towards the door open the door leave the room you don't think any of that you just do it darlings don't you just do it well that's what doing these exercises every day brings for us now hopefully you would have done my my little one yesterday which was the c major so let's look at b flat my major so we're on this b flat we've got a two and a four on the b flat and the d

okay and thumb under one and three on a flattened e two and four d and f

e flat g three and five

thumb under one and three

two and four on the b flat and the g

thumb under one and three

and finish again on your b flat and d so we've come full circle so we're still on the two and four as we were at the start okay and then should we try and come back down again so we're here on this b flat and d okay now let's come down 1 and 3 a and c

2 and 4 g and b flat 1 and 3 f and a

and now it's it just it gets a little bit tricky we've got to come over five and three e flat and g two and four d and f

one and three c and e but it's flat and then we're finishing on two and four b flat and d okay should we do that one more time should i not call out the fingering or shall i call out the finger what do you think i'll call this out two and four

good morning internet welcome to royal clearance radio now then i spent yesterday looking for a suspender belt and you know you get to a certain point in your life when things like the decorations of uh lusty activities become less important and then of course we've just been through a lockdown also and i i didn't have one i did i don't own such a thing and this is basically because they invented hold-ups and because i'm i'm way beyond such shenanigans so i looked on amazon and the delivery issue well there was a problem basically my mom has amazon prime which means you get next day delivery um but the they seemed very expensive and very cheap quality you're starting so we can we thought oh no we don't want you know i've got these seamed stockings like real silk ones i need to check the authenticity because did they have silk scene stockings in the 40s i'm not sure so i need to check that today actually um and i'm wondering if i can bend the truth a bit anyway for the purpose of drawing attention to myself um anyway uh they the cheap ones have a habit of breaking and i thought i don't want to be you know i don't want my stockings falling down in the middle of goodwood revival so i considered my associates who may have won so you have to do a toss up don't you between who's sort of of that nature and who's most likely to have one stuffed in the back of their cupboard from 20 years ago so i i it was a long shot but i've got a biker friend and i thought i wonder if she's got one because i know she has what can only be described as history history of uh activities that may involve the wearing of suspender belts so i ran it by her and she said oh i may have actually and indeed there was one so anyway i left uh to go and check she said it was a size eight to ten i'm a above that i'm more like a 10 to 12 you know 12 14 probably anyway as i was leaving i was cutting through the marina the car park and um you know i look quite good on my bicycle i tend to get speed i mean i'm not evil knievel or anything anyway i sort of came across a boy ginger haired boy i'd say he was about 10 or 11. and um we sort of we didn't collide but we we met you know and he was going really fast and he was obviously uh what what can i say i mean i've been doing all these stories on my on i run a another radio show called telltale kids and it's all for kids you know and i'm doing these teenage boys stories at the moment and um you know i get it i get the sort of adventure of teenage boys and um i must have given him a look and he said racia
