Get bonus content on Patreon See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.hi tail tellers welcome to music school and today we're playing air instruments and we're playing now a flute along to twinkle twinkle little star now flutes are different to a cello or a violin because we just use our fingers and our mouth so for this exercise we're going to do something with our tongue and our lips and we're going to can you make it sound with your tongue on the roof of your mouthwhen you play a recorder what you make a littlesound as you blowcan you hear thatnow as we play along to twinkle twinkle little star today we're going to use both our hands all of our fingers and our tongue and our mouth so can you wiggle your fingers on your imaginary recorder or flute if it's a flute it would be sideways if it's a recorder it would be downwards and can you wiggle your fingers up and down on your imaginary flute at the same time as you do thisyou can do any of those things but the only thing you need to do when you're miming is to play in time with the beat of the music so should we give it a go guys let's play the track and see how we get on i'll try and get loud enough above the sound of the music so that you can hear me going but it is quite difficult to make it loud and maybe i should turn the music down a bit let's give it a go and see how we get on so remember hold your instrument and or blow blow blow with the beat of the song let's try it now oh that was quite hard did you move your fingers at the same time no nor did i so should we try now and move our fingers up and down our imaginary instrument at the same time as we do the okay are you ready let's do it nowmove those fingers up and downhow did you get on should we do it one more time this time i won't make any sound and what you can do is you can walk around the room because the wonderful thing about playing an instrument that you use your hands and your mouth for is that you can stand up and do it you can walk around the room and you can move your head up and down and round and round and you can tap your feet at the same time as you play you see cellists can't do that cellists have to keep very still to hold their instruments properly and there are other musicians that can't really do that but when you're playing a flute or a recorder you can fly around the room however you want this is really exciting actually so perhaps now you can try and do your and you're moving your fingers and walk around the room at the same time let's have a go and see if we enjoy it bravo bravo you are amazing wow that's incredible i'd love to play a flute now come up later and we're going to be playing a pretend violin...more5minPlay

September 11, 2021Lightly Row Suzuki Book 1 Piano Phrasing Class With Sarnia Tale Teller Music SchoolLightly Row Suzuki Book 1 Piano Phrasing Class With Sarnia Tale Teller Music School.hello tail tellers welcome to telltale club guess what's happening today i'm so excited i'm so so excited we're starting a new song yes we're starting a new suzuki song it's called lightly ro and it's suzuki because it's in the suzuki book suzuki doesn't own this song but this is the suzuki version that we're going to play from but actually it's a german folk song and this is one of those songs that's handed down through generations and generations of children have learned to play it it's quite simple but we're learning so many more things for example we're learning about holding a note down for a count of two and we're learning about phrasing what does phrasing mean well do you see when i say what does phrasing mean my voice kind of goes up and down and up and down and comes back what does phrasing mean it kind of forms what's called a phrase phrases are like sections and they really imply that our body or our musicality our movement or our voice is performing a sentence a musical sentence how fabulous is that so today we're going to pop our hand on the piano not the middle c area the c above the middle c area from here this is the sea that we're using today my other taotella club we use other seas on other instruments but this is the sea that we're using today for the suzuki book okay can you play me that see and one more time and are you playing it with your thumbyes tail tiller jolly good now if you put your fingers down all on the adjacent notes you have c d e f g f e d c with fingers thumb two three four five four three two one i had to think then because when we play cello we call the second finger of first finger and it gets a bit confusing but for the piano we're on thumb two three four five four three two one you can play all those notes at once oh that was a noise and a half wasn't itnot sure if i like that noise what does it sound like a big bunch of clown cars that's what so the first note we're going to play is pinkie g and then we're going to play two e's and we're going to hold that e for twice as long as the other notes so the counting is like this 1 2 three hold do you see one two three hold and the next bar we're going to play f with our fourth finger and d with our pointy finger finger two and similar to the previous bar we're playing one two three hold okay so like thishold wow that's pretty pretty good isn't itcan you play that try four two two of the fingershave a goand holdjoin in with me when you canvery good now the next bar is one two three four and the bar after that five five five a scale going from the c to the pinky g sounds straightforward enough to me the final note is held for two let's see if we can do that i'll play it and you try and copy i'll call out the fingers one two three four five five five hold and again one two three four five five five hold do you think you can join in with me join in when you canhey very good now i can hear the children coming out to play so i'd must be quick but look i'm going to play that whole line so that you know what it sounds like and i'm going to try and make a phrase of it as if it were a sentence see if you can hear the sentence did you hear it i heard it yes i definitely heard it come back tomorrow and we will do the left hand and then maybe the next day they'll tell us we could put them together bye bye...more7minPlay
