September 05, 2021Private Lessons Violoncello With Sarnia French Folk Song Suzuki Book OneLet's look at this in detail today, a free kid's cello class with Sarnia.Private Lessons Violoncello With Sarnia French Folk Song Suzuki Book One.hey little ones welcome to um french folk song suzuki method book one i haven't um i haven't uploaded for a while because i've been so busy i've been doing a lot of performances and such like so i've been really really crazy busy but i want to really have quite an in-depth lesson today about this this lovely little piece it's also in the suzuki piano as well actually but they are using a different key to us so we can't really play together unless you're very good at transposing what transposing means is that you change the key so you're playing the same spaces between the notes but different notes do you see the same intervals but you're moving to a different starting point and that's all about the root note of the key so the pianists for suzuki i'm doing those as well um there theirs is in c major uh i think it's c major uh because for pianists c major is the easiest and for cellists debatably d nature is the easiest for us the easiest to start with um and that's just uh to do with really the way our hands work and the way that our instruments are set up because the piano has all those black notes so anywayfind your d now first of all are you tuned that's the first thing isn't it always always tune so should we just when you tune up do you know what's a really good thing to do after you've chewed once you know you've got the right note it's a really good warm-up just to take the bow and just hold the bow in the middle with your left hand to let it balance okay just let it balance there and just feel where your center of gravity on that bow is my mine is uh about a third of the way up interesting isn't it it's not halfway uh up at all that's because your fog is really heavy so now i just want you to hold the bow with your right hand and your left and just drop it on the string just drop it there don't let go you don't want to let me don't want it on the floor but just drop it and just feel the gravity holding it attaching it now take your left hand off now look you don't have to have stiff hands to hold this bow do you let gravity do all the work for you look chenists rely a lot on gravity we love gravity look it's just so much easier if wei'm hardly touching the bow i promise you all the workis being done by gravity now that's the g string let's try the c stringi hit my music stand there so that was rather unfortunate but uh you need a lot of space to be a cellist we're all over the place all the way to the tip feel the gravity it's interesting isn't it what happens when we maneuver our arms bodies hands everything still keeping our bow straight but we go to that d string remember to look in the mirror if you can i really do advise a mirror i don't think you're going to benefit unless you use a mirror at least from time to time to check this bow is straight or you can film yourself on your phones we all like doing that these days now just pop that bowon that d string where's the gravity now well it depends doesn't it because if it's on the tip where's the gravity is it is it more in the base by the frog or is it work it out where where is the gravity where's the pull well of course the pull is going to the tip isn't it and you could easily fall forward and i've got uh if i fell forward with my bow i'd end up in my the capped ball so i don't want to do that so we've got to think about when we when we're doing the a and the d strings we need a bit more pullingbut look if you you've still got gravity to some degree but also you've got momentum once you startkeep the momentum going where's that dimension coming from what do i mean it's coming from the energy that you kicked off with hereand it's coming from your back okay so bring it from your back and keep it nice and steady......more22minPlay

Two things that will tax me today!Facebook Marketplace Hell and Fancy Dressing at The Royal Clarence Costumiers.hello gorgeous people of the internet welcome to royal clarence radio and the wonderful marina sun's just starting to shine i'm here with my romeo romeo is my persian cat he's been quite quiet hmm i wonder why anyway i have been very very busy because we're setting up the royal clarence dress hire shop and i slowly slowly i'm not rushing because i get so very distracted and there's so many other things to do as you know i'm a musician so there's a lot of music things going on my lunchtime recitals and what have you um now then because i'm a member of the a fellow of the royal society of art and a very keen eco i won't say warrior because my days of warrioring are well gone um but i'm a bit of a i suppose i i do i am still an activist i would consider myself an activist and uh just before lockdown we were due in the marina to have a wonderful eco fashion show and everything was going to be recycled and it had to be cancelled because uh it was in the june of the first wave very very disappointing um but consequently i have you know lots of things lots of clothes that were going to be used for the fashion show so this all fits in very nicely with carrying on the eco message and the education even part of being a fellow of the royal society of art is about enabling and educating and mentoring and really being a decent manufacturer or inventor or user all of these things they they all um you know they're they're all part of the ethos of the the royal society so i really like this idea of a fancy dress because not really it's it's a bit more than fancy dress i suppose it's a more of a costumier costume higher i mean my target audience is not so much the hen party as the photographer who's doing a shoot or a tv film uh crew you know a director or something who wants a costume because i'm very good at putting these things together so i can do all that i can style it so that's my target audience anyway i've been very very busy now the thing with arranging all this so that i can have people come to my showroom at the marina um is i have to have a big clear out and arrange everything either in alphabetical order or sectional order at the moment i'm doing things in decades so i've got the 20s 30s 40s 50s 60s 70s 80s and even 90s yes i have um it's really good fun but um anyway i'm digressing the the consequence of all this organizing is that i have to get rid of stuff so i've just filled the music room with stuff now of course my commitment to recycling and eco-friendly services and opportunities means i can't throw this stuff away and there's loads of it so i'm selling today on uh marketplace now facebook marketplace the sort of local selling um kind of what do they call it the grey economy basically you sell your trash okay and the thing i the thing with what do i like about facebook marketplace absolutely zilch i hate it just it's just such a god-awful thing you have to take photographs that's boring boring boring boring and it's not like the photographs that i'm taking for the costumias which are photographs that are beautifully set with a backdrop and in character and um you know photo edited etc you're not going to do that for facebook marketplace you're going to take a few snaps and put them up then you've got to measure things people always want they ask questions like how how big is it well of course they do they want to know how big something is don't they but then the other thing is they have to come around and get it and the security here at royal clearance wonderful because no one can get past the gates which that means i have to go down and you know make contact now there's nothing wrong with making contact but as a radio presenter the contact that i tend to make is uh audio oral as in a you not o.r......more25minPlay
