hello mini tail tellers welcome welcome to the music room at royal clarence now today we're going to have our preliminary listen to the beethoven sonata in f minor up to number one movement one and this is our grade eight piece and we'll be looking at this in great detail over the coming months this is the grade eight uh choice of a group a i believe we'll be good we'll be going through them all so that you don't have to choose this piece if you don't like it but i think it's really pretty and i don't think it's going to be too too difficult for us i'm looking at the score i'm seeing an expressive piece and lots of exciting little trills and triplets and crushed notes so i'm going to be teaching you how to do those there's a lot of contrast so we're going to have to work on um you know our loud and quiet and feeling and contrast lots of staccatos we're leaping about a bit we're going to be looking at how not to lose ourselves the baseline is actually it's quite um steady all the way through it's going to keep us good time so we don't have too much to worry about it's a really pretty pretty little beethoven piece it's wonderful to play it's absolutely um beautiful to listen to there are a lot of repetitive sections and that's good for us as musicians because it means that we we don't have to work too too hard and it means we get better at them because the we're repeating them and in the examination you won't necessarily be asked to play those repeats anyway so we'll talk about more about that another time so i'm going to leave you with the performance um it's 6 minutes and 11 seconds long thoroughly enjoyable and it's in the public domain so feel free to to share and to engage with it as much as you can download it listen to it over and over again my suzuki students will know we rely very heavily on the oral memory listening over and over to keep in mind where it is we need to go next and where we've just been okay we learn things by heart but the music is just as important for my nansuki students so you're going to study everything about this piece okay enjoy my friends absolutely wonderful wonderful peace

hello wonderful people of the internet welcome to royal clearance radio it's a beautiful sunny day it's a monday morning i'm fresh fresh fresh as a daisy and i hope you are too now i'm going to feature something today a little bit more energetic than the beethoven that we did last night at bedtime remember i do a bedtime broadcast as well and i thought we're going to do something a little bit punky and this is by a local artist he goes by the name of the full short and his name's greg and he's wonderful what's exciting about greg i thought or interesting is that he recorded his entire album in a converted world war ii bunker at the bottom of his garden how cool is that and it just goes to show actually that um you know we're all about recycling and good can come from bad because i'm sure it was a petrifying place originally when it was first built it's quite interesting because all of the marina here at royal clarence is a converted royal navy depot we've got the vitulas where the food was made and we've got these massive ovens it's now a restaurant and a bistro and we've got engine rooms we've got a pump house and all these things have been converted into offices eateries and apartments we have very swanky wonderful apartments looking over all the yachts and everything and i love it when you walk around you really feel the history of it all it's it's wonderfully um nostalgic even if you're you know you're never in the navy what have you it's you can feel the the sense of it and actually i remember when i first moved in i had no internet for you know what it's like when you first moved into a property and i had to stay in for a delivery of a bed and so i'd had no phone calls i had no internet i had no phone signal and though it seemed very quiet um there were fewer homes it's about four or five years ago and uh anyway i came out of my apartment and i was going walking across the marina uh the car park that used to be very much a part of raw clarence yard and there was some helicopters above navy helicopters and i i wondered actually if we were at war it was very very odd just because of the sense of it you know it's changing a bit now it feels a bit more lived in we've got a lot more people around but there are a lot of holiday homes here and some parts of the year it does feel a little isolated and it can be a bit eerie sometimes if if you just don't see anyone i went for a jog recently actually and uh i was trying to shed a few pounds after lockdown and i'll get up really really early because i didn't want to see anyone you know didn't have my eyebrows on and uh ill-fitting bras here and i went for a jog needless to say i bumped into two or...

hello darlings welcome to royal clarence radio i'm feeling rather chill a little delicate i won't lie and the reason i'm a little delicate is because yesterday i took my wonderful mother to a new venue actually very close to the marina just across the millennium bridge there um called the powder monkey tap house and it's affiliated with a brewery they say they do their own you know concoctions i'm not sure how all that beer stuff works because we were straight on the vino and a lovely lovely bottle of white um which was affordable and um their shots were rather pricey and they didn't do an irish coffee which was um rather uh of shock to one system so i had to buy my own whiskey and pour it into my coffee because they couldn't seem to manage that i have no idea why but they're very new now that's not what's the most exciting thing about it the most exciting thing about this venue is that it's set in the explosion museum of naval firepower yes it's inside a museum but it's in the open air so you have these sort of rambling grounds there's a field and they had live bands and music everyone was dancing it's a bit of a festival atmosphere and i know they've got another festival thing coming up in october so i will let you know all about that um so consequently it's because it's set in this environment of of navy um firepower there are these gigantic huge structures and and one looks at them and isn't quite sure what they are um they're huge fallacies and i think they were they're guns that were once on ships and submarines and things like that needless to say we stuck mother on them and took lots of photographs it was a bit like you know um being on a family outing actually but of course we'd had a few so it was a one of those a bit a little bit like a wedding i suppose anyway it was super super fun and it was an absolutely charming environment and i liked it because it was very family friendly but there were a lot of older people there as well which i just found really refreshing lots of older attractive men and funnily enough a man came approached my mother and he was 72 and he almost immediately asked mother her age which was i thought was a bit odd but it turns out he's a photographer and he was very pleased that she was 78 and he wanted to take photographs of her can you imagine she was secretly uh devastated obviously on the surface but secretly very very pleased um i don't think she's going to take him up on his offer but he wrote out a card and everything by hand and presented it to her with his phone number and uh how exciting how exciting and i think if she'd said that she was 95 he'd have been even more pleased um however she has no intention of launching a glamour model career at the ripe old age of 78. so but that was a bit of fun and we had an absolutely wonderful time now listen don't eat there maybe because the food was disgusting um i was some sort of hot dog but um it literally felt like it had been rolled around the carpet a few times um it's a completely tasteless and a funny texture so uh i'd avoid the hot dogs i don't know what the other food the other food on the menu was like because we just went for the hot dogs and it wasn't very cheap either so but that's my my review as as it stands now i have a wonderful wonderful tune for you today it is um a 19 it's a 1920s recording so this is taken from a 78 old vinyl 78 it's the courthouse blues by the amazing and talented blue singer clara smith and i think you're going to really really enjoy this hey
