Kiki returns to MN to find that her teaching credentials in NC do not transfer. The year is full of pitfalls, including creepy housemates, roofies, and a supervisor who hates her. Here's how she learned (the hard way) and how she survived.

In the Season 1 Finale, Kiki and Amy conclude their discussion on three years of Teach for America service, which branches out beyond the classroom bubble to generational PTSD stemming from America's original sin of slavery, to a class trip to Washington DC with many kids who'd never been out of Halifax County much less the state, to homophobia and violence.....ending in a bloody mess and tough decisions.

In Episode 6, Kiki and Amy dive into Kiki's pivotal second year as a Teach for America teacher in eastern rural North Carolina, in which Kiki finally starts to swim as a teacher only to realize WHY that particular school needed TFA teachers in the first place. An eye-opening episode critical to understanding the Season Finale...and perhaps America.

In Episode 5, Kiki and Amy get really real about our younger selves: How much we didn’t know coming from white privilege (even housing-project white privilege in Kiki's case), and how much we’re still learning as straight, white, educated, MN women who don't want to be "Karen." In Episode 3, Kiki ALMOST DIES. We’re talking 98% chance of dying. Here, Amy guides Kiki through the telling of this emotional experience, equal parts hell and grace. This episode sets the stage for everything to come.

In Episode 2, Kiki & Amy talk about living as fully as possible in her final two years in college — when she wasn’t sleeping 14 hrs a day, being tested at the local hospital, or severely sick.
