Laurie was visited by John Reusing, owner of Bad Decisions, to hear all about the recent Tales of the Cocktail conference in New Orleans. John shared some of his favorite finds, cocktails and stories from the week as they sipped and Ideal Cocktail and a traditional daiquiri made with El Dorado 12yr old Rum–not your Mother’s Strawberry daiquiri either! An Ideal Cocktail Dry Gin Sweet Vermouth Dry Vermouth Grapefruit juice 3 dashes of Maraschino cherry liqueur Equal parts Dry Gin, Sweet Vermouth & Dry Vermouth.   One bar spoon of fresh grapefruit juice (from the grapefruit, not a bottle).  Use Maraschino liqueur, not juice. Shaken and strained into a martini glass. Traditional Daiquiri 1.5 oz El Dorado 12yo Rum 3/4 oz lime juice 1/4 oz simple syrup Equal portions of each ingredient.  Use good rum! Shaken and strained into a cocktail glass.
