Talk 11: Kaneka Turner

Listen Later

Do you remember the first day? It was filled with excitement and optimism as you considered the newness of it all. This was followed by anxiety and caution as you considered uncertainty of it all. This description aligns to both students and teachers, yet both are asked to be "all in" from the very first day. Curriculum structures that offer routine and rigour support both teachers and students in their efforts to be "all in" . This session will explore characteristics of the lesson launch and warm up featured in Illustrative Mathematics curriculum and how these structures promote agency and equity in the math classroom.
Recorded December 2019. Kaneka works at Illustrative Mathematics and she Tweets at @KanekaTurner
