OAME Talks

Talk 9: Matt Baker

Listen Later

Whether you're struggling to plan exciting activities for class or just feeling frustrated by the difficulty of the profession, it is really easy to feel isolated as a teacher. Let's just say it: teaching math is hard and exhausting. Coming to a conference like OAME gives us a few days to rejuvenate ourselves and connect with each other. But there's actually a huge community of people online that will listen, offer advice, and generally help you feel less alone all year round. The Math Twitter Blogosphere (or MTBoS) is a global group of math educators that support each other in tackling the challenges of teaching, whether they be practical challenges like activity planning or emotional challenges like supporting struggling students. We love this online community because it has changed our lives as educators, and we want the same for you!
This workshop will introduce the MTBoS and help participants to get online and get connected to the multitude of resources and supports available online from awesome, innovative educators. Time will be given to explore the community, guided by teachers active in the community. No previous experience in social networking is required!
