If grace has been undermined in a believers’ mind, self is all that is left – all we can do then is hope in our own resources. When failure comes then the only conclusion anyone can draw is “Maybe I don’t really belong to Christ”. And if we never really known we become a pawn in the hand of the enemy. We will be forever plagued by doubts about our worthiness before a holy God. Few things in life will undermine grace in the believers mind than trusting in works and failing.

A Roman breastplate was usually made of bronze; it covered from just below the neck to the thighs to guard the most vital organs that keep us alive. No one would dare go into battle without it.
What exactly does righteousness mean? If you think it means you have to become perfect before you are protected, just quit now. That is not what this is about! It simply means uprightness, right living, integrity in one’s lifestyle and character. It is a matter of conforming our will to God’s will. The righteousness referred to here is submitting to the lordship of Christ. Put simply, it's putting into practice what you know is right. That is why the belt of truth came first – it is fundamental. Now that we have it we need to apply it. We need to put into practice what God has told us in His Word, His community, and His worship.

The real secret to happiness isn’t anywhere in prime-time TV. The key to life has nothing to do with fast cars, revolving partners or this year’s fashions. Those are just counterfeits with which the enemy and the flesh conspire to tempt us. And the remedy – the number one defense against this devious deception – is to clothe ourselves in truth

It our job to learn how to guard the territory that has been entrusted to us. To not let our new position in Christ get undermined by our thinking, speech, and lifestyle. We are about to learn how this works out in everyday life with normal people like you and I.

We live in a fallen world, and though we are brand new, we still fight a war on two fronts. Our flesh against the Spirit. And a supernatural angelic being who fell from heaven and took 1/3 of the angels with him, whose goal is to destroy us spiritually, emotionally, relationally, and physically. Fighting on both fronts will require all our resources. The good news is, Jesus is our resource!!!!!!

Even though Satan is more powerful than we can imagine, we give him too much credit – or God too little – if we fear him. We are never told in the Bible to be preoccupied with the devil. Our preoccupation should be entirely on God and not on our adversary or ourselves.

Not only is there and invisible world, that world is in the midst of an invisible conflict that has eternal implications. Have you ever wondered why Jesus, being God incarnate, didn’t just speak a word and make the enemy go away? Remember one of the reasons Jesus came was to model to us what it means to walk in complete dependence on the Father in the power of the Holy Spirit. So on the night of His greatest battle, and Peter, one of His friends, was the target of the enemy’s attack, Jesus demonstrated the solution for us – He prayed – a lot! The problems we face aren’t really about our mates, our children, our jobs, or our circumstances. Behind all of those things is the subject of our basic truths : a malicious, personal archenemy who wants to use anything he can to destroy our lives.

Jesus who came to us from an unseen world, where everything is crystal clear, spoke specifically and repeatedly of dark, spiritual personalities. The invisible world was very visible to Him. If we don’t believe in the invisible world, we are rejecting the words of Jesus. If we deny the reality of Satan, demons and angles, we are casting judgment of the Holy Spirit’s revelation to us. By not understanding the biblical dynamics of the spiritual realities we make ourselves more vulnerable to evil powers. We become less confident in God’s ability to deliver us.
