  • Tony Pearson Warrior Dad
Tony Pearson is a Warrior Dad fighting for equality, inclusion and a brighter future for his daughter, Grayce.
In this episode of The Fly Fifer Podcast, James welcomes Tony and Grayce for a conversation about a dad’s determination to make his daughter’s voice heard.
Grayce was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) type 2 at just 14 months old. Since then, Tony and her mum, Carrie, have campaigned for earlier diagnosis, better support and the opportunities every child deserves.

Their campaigning, alongside other families and SMA UK, helped bring change. On 23 March 2026, Scotland became the first part of the UK to introduce nationwide newborn screening for SMA through a two-year pilot, offering earlier detection and access to treatment. But Tony’s fight goes beyond screening. It’s about Grayce being included, having access to the world around her and being given every opportunity to live a full life.

The family have also spoken publicly about the barriers to making their home accessible. A conversation about fatherhood, disability, determination and the love that keeps a parent fighting for change. Watch, share and help get their story heard. • Ruaridh Ormiston I Am A Highlander at heart
Ruaridh Ormiston speaks to The Fly Fifer. This week on The Fly Fifer Podcast, we head into the heart of the Highlands for a proper chat with Ruaridh Ormiston. Ruaridh comes from a Highland family with generations of history around farming, Highland cattle, Highland ponies, horses and working on the hill. The Ormiston family have been connected with Highland pony and cattle breeding in Badenoch since the 1800s, with a remarkable story that includes the early days of pony trekking in Newtonmore, working ponies, deer stalking and the changing face of Highland rural life. Ruaridh has spent much of his life around horses and ponies. His family connection to pony trekking stretches back to his grandfather Ewan Ormiston, who helped establish pony trekking in Newtonmore in 1952. Ruaridh later took over his own operation before moving to the Newtonmore Riding Centre at Biallid Farm. But there's much more to the story than horses. We get into Highland cattle, farming, deer, ponies, horses, the realities of working the land and what it means to keep traditional Highland skills alive in a modern world. We also talk about the Strathmashie Fold and Ruaridh's long involvement with Highland cattle, as well as some of the newer technology being used in modern cattle management. It's a conversation about family, tradition, farming, animals, the Highlands and the people who keep rural Scotland moving. No script. No corporate chat. Just real Scottish chat, your chat your way. This is the real Marvin Baird, sitting at home, on his terms, having a raw and honest conversation about life, addiction, recovery, family, mistakes, survival and trying to find himself after 22 years of addiction.

Just Marvin. At the time of recording, Marvin had been 1 year and 1 week clean. And there’s an important question running through this conversation: Is Marvin still an addict? • Why Men Need A Creche: And its not what you think
    MEN CRÈCHE: SHOOTING THE SHIT
    No script.
    No plan.
    No preparation.
And quite possibly… no adult supervision.

This week James & David are doing something a wee bit different just sitting down, shooting the shit, talking absolute mince and generally being a pair of dafties. No serious agenda. No big topic. Just two blokes having a blether, taking the piss, laughing at each other and probably wondering halfway through why we ever pressed record. 🤣 Sometimes you don't need a plan. Sometimes you just need a cuppa, a camera and a complete lack of common sense. This is Men Crèche exactly as it should be honest, relaxed, unfiltered and occasionally bordering on ridiculous. Stick the kettle on, grab a seat and come have a blether with us. Because let's be honest… we're probably talking shite anyway. 😂
