PREET BHARARA, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and BRIAN HICKEY, the Special- Agent-in-Charge of the Northeast Region of the U.S. Department of Education, Office of the Inspector General, announced today the arrest of MARIE E. THORNTON, the former Vice President of Finance for Iona College, on charges of embezzling more than $1.2 million from Iona College over the course of a ten-year time period.

THORNTON surrendered this morning and was presented in Manhattan federal court today.

This is Mayor Noam Bramson with an important traffic advisory – and an invitation – for tomorrow, Saturday, November 20th, when New Rochelle’s Thanksgiving Parade returns. The parade will kickoff at 10:00am at the corner of Eastchester Road and North Avenue, proceed on North to Main Street, and then on Main to Maple Avenue.

Parking and traffic restrictions will be in effect throughout this area. The Maple Avenue parking lot will be inaccessible from at least 10:00am to noon. And busses will be operating on only a limited schedule. Please make your travel plans accordingly.

Of course, you are invited to join us for the parade and celebrate a great New Rochelle tradition. There will be ample room for spectators throughout the parade route, but please avoid the section of North Avenue between the Boulevard and Burling Lane, where sidewalk construction is currently underway.
