This episode explores why setting boundaries can feel uncomfortable, especially when you are accustomed to putting others first. Drawing from my memoir, You Are Not Your Trauma, I discuss navigating guilt, honoring your limits, and choosing yourself while still caring about others.
Grief reaches beyond death. In this episode, Dr. V’Tessa Watson shares her experience of losing her brother, grieving the parental love and support she needed, and mourning relationships and futures she once imagined. Through honest reflection, she explores how acknowledging these losses, setting boundaries, and releasing what we cannot change can make room for healing and hope.
I share more about my story regarding mother/daughter dynamic as well as discuss about the other women in my life who have impacted me.
Do you ever feel like you should have life figured out by now? In this episode, we’re talking about the pressure to meet certain milestones, comparing ourselves to others, and the fear of making the “wrong” decisions. We’ll explore why everyone’s journey looks different, how to give yourself permission to slow down, and what it means to trust yourself even when you don’t know what comes next. If you’ve ever felt behind, uncertain, or like you should be doing more, this episode is your reminder that you don’t need to have everything figured out—you just need to keep growing, learning, and taking life one step at a time.
In this podcast episode, I share some of the most important things I wish I had understood about mental health earlier in life. We’ll talk about how childhood experiences can follow us into adulthood, why ignoring emotional pain doesn’t make it disappear, and how asking for help is a sign of strength—not weakness.
I’ll also discuss the importance of setting healthy boundaries, recognizing triggers, giving yourself permission to rest, and understanding that you cannot heal everyone around you while neglecting yourself. Most importantly, we’ll explore how healing is not always a straight path. There may be setbacks, difficult days, and uncomfortable truths, but every step toward understanding yourself is still progress.
My hope is that this conversation encourages listeners to prioritize their mental and emotional well-being, release the shame often associated with seeking support, and realize that what happened to you does not have to determine who you become. It is never too late to heal, grow, and create a healthier life.
