Torres - aka 26-year-old musician Mackenzie Scott - talks about her experiences of autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) – the tingling sensation on the skin that usually begins on the scalp and moves down the neck and spine in response to external stimuli - often acoustic or visual. We met with Mackenzie in Reykjavík earlier this month where she was performing as part of Iceland Airwaves.

Last year he released the album Island Songs which saw him connect with local musicians across his home country to create a community-based portrait of Icelandic music.

Collaboration is a very important part of the way BAFTA-winning composer Ólafur Arnaldsapproaches music. Just a couple of days after a companion film to the Island Songs project premiered in Iceland –  an album which saw him connect with local musicians across his home country to create a community-based portrait of Icelandic music – we sat down with him to talk about why working with other musicians is so vital.

Before he joined The Killers in 2002, Ronnie Vanucci Jr was a well known drummer on the Las Vegas scene had played in in everything from a ska-punk to a covers band called Free Food, who played at prisons and homeless shelters.He beginning drumming at the age of seven and nineteen years later was studying classical percussion at the University of Nevada when he met Brandon Flowers. The band would play in Ronnie’s garage and at night he would sneak them into his University building to practice.

Ronnie's dog Archie is almost as famous as he is to Killers fans and recently he started reading up a lot about animals, initially from the angle of investigating health and diet. This led him into a deeper journey, wanting to learn about and understand more about how the food chain fits together and how we relate to animals. That's what we're talking about with him on today's podcast.

James Murray - aka Murr - is a member of comedy collective The Tenderloins who found fame on hit Comedy Central show Impractical Jokers.

One of four friends who met 27 years ago in a High School religious education class, Murr was working for the Staten Island Ferry when the group reconnected 9 years later and began practicing improv comedy.

Impractical Jokers sees the cast challenge each other to do the most ridiculous public pranks with everything captured on hidden cameras. Over the course of the show’s six seasons, Murr has done everything from having his nipples and belly button pierced and receiving prostate exams in front of an audience to legally marrying his castmate Sal’s sister and eating dog poo in a pet store for 300 dollars.

We meet up with Murr to talk about his obsession with conspiracy theories.

Högni Egilsson is one of the most recognisable faces and voices in Icelandic music. A member of the legendary electronic collective Gus Gus since 2011, he’s also carved out a career with the bands Hjaltalín and Gluteus Maximus.

Högni mastered the violin, guitar and piano in his teens alongside a stint in his high-school choir before studying composition at the Iceland Academy of the Arts.

He has composed music for the Royal Shakespeare Company and Icelandic National Theatre and this year releases his first solo album on the Erased Tapes label, titled Two Trains.

It’s not surprising that someone of his physique and height would also play sports too but Högni's a fan of an unlikely pastime for someone from Iceland: basketball.

We met him on a rainy day at this year’s End of the Road festival to find out why he thinks it’s the most beautiful of all games.

Eva Hendricks is the effervescent frontwoman of Brooklyn power pop band Charly Bliss. Made up of four friends who all went to school together, the band formed in 2014 and also includes Eva’s brother Sam.

Earlier year they released their first album Guppy, which the AV Club called an “instant classic’. They also published a companion comic book which featured contributors like illustrator Tuesday Bassen, comic artist Michael Deforge, and Sadie from Speedy Ortiz and Sad13 each interpreting a different track.

Comics and animation are a big part of Charly Bliss. Guitarist Spencer was the voice of Dash in the massive 2004 movie The Incredibles and Eva is obsessed with comics which is what we’re talking about with her on this podcast.

Cameron Ralston is the house bassist and a producer for Spacebomb, a collective of musicians based in Richmond, Virginia, who set up a record label and production company based around a house band. They followed a model established by the likes of Stax or Motown, with a signature style inspired by a love of great American soul music. 

As The Guardian put it, "they make albums that sound like a million dollars" - and this and this October they assemble in London for a one off show that will include guest collaborations with the likes of Natalie Prass, Slow Club, The Waterboys' Mike Scott, Foxygen and Charlie Fink from Noah and the Whale.

Ahead of that show we met Spacebomb bassist Cameron Ralston to talk about something he likes to do when he's not in the studio or on the road: gardening.
