This week we are throwing it back to a conversation I had last year with my good friend, Logan Lester! Logan was Miss Texas USA 2018, the same year I was Miss Missouri! We actually first met for a photoshoot in Central Park, but later reconnected at the Miss USA competition where our friendship solidified. Logan is a well-known realtor in the Houston, Texas area, as well as a fashion blogger. I mean, just check out her Instagram, the girl has got style.

I’ve experienced this myself, but it seems like once you put on the crown, opinions about you come from every direction -- from people who have never met you and don’t know a thing about you. People like to tell other people how to live their lives if you haven’t found that out yet. With her passions in real estate and fashion, Logan publicly pursues both and for some, that just doesn’t sit right. She has heard countless voices tell her that she should only focus on one or the other -- but never both. Rest assured, Logan leads her own life and is going to do what makes her happiest.

A couple of months ago I had Alexis Lete on my podcast. Alexis is Miss Indiana USA 2020, and she went on to finish 3rd Runner-up at the Miss USA competition! If you listened to the first interview you could tell Alexis and I hit it off. So you guessed it, we HAD to run it back! Recently, I was a guest on her show, the InPowHER Podcast -- and yes, it was just a fun as the first time! Should we start our own show together? I don’t know, maybe the stars will align for that one day, but what I do know for certain is that Alexis and I both firmly believe in one thing: self-growth.

You know that saying, get knocked down three times, stand up four. As straightforward and generic as it sounds, it’s so true. Where Alexis and I are at in our careers and the success we’ve had in pageantry is a direct reflection of this attitude. We have been battered and bruised by doubters and naysayers all along the way, but we’ve risen every time after -- and eventually, that starts to pay off.

From the Miss America stage to Miss USA, Kelley Johnson, has conquered the biggest stages in pageantry! She has also been known as Nurse Kelley because of her monologue about the nursing profession in the Miss America competition in 2015 where she finished second runner-up.    In our interview Kelley talks about her profession of being a nurse and how she's created a lifestyle she's dreamed of by always staying true to herself. Kelley also shares one of her favorite memories of being a guest on the Ellen DeGeneres show. Kelley is a perfect example of being authentic to yourself and never giving up on your biggest dreams!
