It's been a jam packed second week of July! After a Fourth of July that was crammed full of movies, so much so that I barely had time to see them let alone podcast about them, we're finally back with some new summer movies! First, Kristen & Dom break down the two mid summer horror drops, Maxxxine from A24 & Ti West, which concludes the trilogy started back in 2022 with X & Pearl; and Longlegs, from Neon directed by Osgood Perkins & starring Maika Monroe & Nicolas Cage. Then, Dom & Eli break down the penultimate episode of the Boys Season 4 (50:51) and episode 5 of House of the Dragon (1:17:52) where things are just falling apart everywhere. The summer recap may be almost over, but we're never running out of things to make content about, so keep tuning in every week for the #officialtalkintvpodcast
Another banger of a summer recap episode! Coming off the Fourth of July Holiday weekend, we have new episodes of House of the Dragon & the Boys and boy, do they deliver! On the Boys side of things, we got some major reveals as the Boys attempt to infiltrate Tek Knight's mansion to find out what the supes next move in, only for ever character to get their asses handed to them, both metaphorically and literally. Then, on House of the Dragon, we see the war finally take off with the Battle of Rook's Rest. Dragons dance, supes kill, it was an explosive weekend to say the least. Another week, another month of summer gone. As we head into July, we celebrate the end of blockbuster TV month with the return of Season 3 of one of the most beloved shows on the air right now, The Bear. Starring Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach & Ayo Edebiri, Season 3 sees the crew struggling to keep the Bear afloat, all while Carmie starts to spiral down the obsession rabbit hole. Then, we travel back to Westeros for House of the Dragon Recap (40:24), where we find everyone preparing for war, and finally wrap with more shenanigans from the Boys (1:22:39). It's another action packed episode right here on the #talkintvpodcast
What's going on guys! We are deep into summer, and continuing with the two massive recaps for blockbuster TV summer, that being The Boys on Amazon and House of the Dragon on Max. The Boys continues with Season 4, Episode 4 "Wisdom of the Ages" while House of the Dragon just premiered its sophomore episode for Season 2, "Brothers in Arms." (32:45) Be sure to keep tuning in for more recaps of both shows as well as more fantastic content only on the #talkintvpodcast
The summer is officially here, and in the wake of absolutely nobody going to the movies this summer (I can't say I blame them) we have the return of a phenomenon I haven't seen in quite a few years, which is that of blockbuster TV! We had the return of two of the biggest shows this past week, with the Boys (00:46) on Amazon and House of the Dragon (01:49:13) on Max, as well as the return of Pixar with Inside Out 2 (01:03:14) in theaters! I sat down with Eli Holicky for both the Boys and House of the Dragon, and with Jeremy Nunez and Paula Sofia Rivero for Inside Out 2. It's a massive jam packed podcast, with the next several weeks being dedicated to recapping every minute of these blockbuster TV events, with some movies thrown in there too. It's a summer triple threat here on the Talkin' TV Podcast! Luk is back to discuss an interesting triple threat, as they all encompass where we're at as a media viewing society right now. First up is Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the fourth installment in the Bad Boys saga once again directed by Adil & Bilal who up their action filmmaking game in an effort that sees Mike (Will Smith) and Markus (Martin Lawrence) have to go on the run after uncovering corruption in their department. Then they talk about the Acolyte, the latest Disney+ Star Wars effort from Leslye Headland starring Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung Jae, Dafne Keene, Jodie Turner Smith, Charlie Bartlett, Manny Jacinto & Carrie Anne Moss. Finally, they talk about Hit Man, the latest effort from Richard Linklater and Netflix which stars Glen Powell as a college professor who moonlights as an FBI agent who poses as a hitman to entrap people but ends up getting a little too invested in it. Welp, no new movies this weekend, so I decided to try something new. As part of my creative reset, we will no longer necessarily be reviewing new movies as part of the podcast. So, to compensate this week, here is our latest part of our Actor's Hall of Fame which we do exclusively on Youtube for now, in which we break down our ten favorites of an actor's filmography and then build our combined top ten, that being Dom "the movie nerd" Rizzi and Dustin "the Duster" Mason. This time, it's Ryan Gosling. Be sure to keep tuning in to brand new episodes every week of the #talkintvpodcast
Welcome back to the Wasteland everyone! And by Wasteland, I of course mean the year of 2024, because what a wasteland for content it has been so far. We return to the World of Mad Max 9 years after the last installment, with a prequel spinoff following Anya Tayor-Joy as a young Furiosa, with Chris Hemsworth as the big bad baddie Dementus, along with a host of returning players. Sounds like a recipe for disaster, right? Well, you might think that, but only in the year 2024 could this be one of the best of the year. Oh what a lovely day indeed. Be sure to keep tuning in to new episodes only on the #talkintvpodcast
We're back with the second installment in our summer 2024 series, and we're returning to another legacy franchise, but not one that we were expecting to return anytime soon. We're talking about Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the first follow up to the Matt Reeves/Rupert Wyatt trilogy of the 2010's that followed Andy Serkis' Caesar from infant to ape savior. Now, we've fast forwarded 300 years into the future as the Planet of the Apes is on the rise, with new factions emerging in the wake of Caesar, bringing with it new characters, new conflicts but continuing the age old morality tale of the Apes franchise. Dom is joined once again by Jeremy Nunez to discuss this movie, its placement in the franchise and more right here on the #talkintvpodcast
We're kicking off the summer with already one of the most entertaining movies of the year, The Fall Guy! The next movie from David Leitch, who's quickly proved himself as one of the up and coming action directors. This time, we've got Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, the true merging of the Barbenheimer, in a massive action rom com romp that also seconds as the best Hollywood skewering since Tropic Thunder. It's got action, it's got romance, it's got comedy, this movie truly has everything. Dom, Luk, Kristen and Mac sit down and discuss what this movie has that every other movie from 2024 so far seems to be missing.
