  • Talkin' Thrones Episode 39 - The Watchers on the Wall

It's another much anticipated battle episode as we cover the penultimate episode of Season 4, arguably one of the best episodes of the entire series, "the Watchers on the Wall." Directed by Neill Marshall, who also directed Season 2's Battle of Blackwater, this episode covers the battle for the Wall between the Night's Watch and Mance Rayder's wildling army. Dom & Pat break down this episode, the tragic amount of deaths of fan favorite characters, how this episode is a terrific transition for these characters into the next phase of their journey as they evolve from soldiers into leaders, as well as how much of the story is in the writing rather than the action. It's all covered here on another fantastic episode of Talkin' Thrones, only available on the #talkintvpodcast

  • Episode 125 - Euphoria (ft. Josh)

It's our reaction to the much anticipated Season 2 finale of HBO's hit show Euphoria! After a 2 year wait since the first season finale, Euphoria debuted a month ago to gangbuster numbers and caught us up on everything going on with Rue, Jules, Fezco, Nate, Cassie, Lexi, Maddie, Kat & the rest of the gang! It's been a crazy season, and some shit is definitely about to go down after Lexi's controversial play. Dom is joined by newcomer to the channel Josh Markland to talk everything about the finale, the inherent ridiculousness of the show, and what it is that everyone seems to love about it. • Talkin' Thrones Episode 38 - The Mountain & the Viper

We're almost done with Season 4, and we begin the wrap-up phase, with Season 4, Episode 8, "The Mountain & the Viper." We obviously talk a ton about the titular fight between Prince Oberyn Martell and Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane, with Benioff & Weiss delivering yet again another one of Martin's classis pulling the rug out from under your feet moments, with Prince Oberyn literally winning the fight, only to monologue for too long, giving the Mountain the chance to knock him down and crush his skull like a grape, dooming Tyrion. We also get a nice little preview of the Battle of the Wall next episode with the Wildling attack on Mole's Town; Ramsay & Theon wrap up the Bolton's conquest of the North with Theon convincing the Ironborn at Moat Cailin to lay down their arms and surrender; Littlefinger & Sansa solidify their unspoken pact with Sansa lying to the Lords of the Vale about Lysa's death; and Daenerys finally learns the truth that Jorah was spying on her for Robert Baratheon back in Season 1. We're officially in wrap-up territory now as we continue on every week up until the finale with #talkinthrones new episodes released every Friday on Spotify & Apple Podcasts.

  • Talkin' Thrones Episode 37 - Mockingbird
We're in the back half of Season 4, and boy is this season rear loaded as we cover season 4, episode 7, entitled "Mockingbird" after Littlefinger's house sigil. We always get at least one of these episodes per season, where the episode is primarily set up, but Benioff & Weiss pull out all the stops to give us scene after scene of incredible writing and insanely captivating character moments. Tyrion's on the hunt for a champion for his trial by combat, after Jaime & Bronn both turn him down. In Meereen, Dany gives into her lust for Daario while also satisfying Jorah. Arya & the Hound continue to discover the horror that is the result of the war, while Brienne & Podrick discover another clue to Sansa's whereabouts. Melisandre tempts Selyse, while Jon continues to feud with Ser Alliser as to how best defend the wall. Finally, at the Eyrie, Littlefinger is forced to make a spur of the moment decision when Sansa's life is threatened. Dom & Pat are covering every episode up until the finale, every Friday on the #talkintvpodcast Spotify feed.

  • Talkin' Thrones Episode 36 - The Laws of Gods & Men

We're past the halfway point of Season 4, which means we're into gangbuster territory. I'd make the argument here that the back half of Season 4 might be the best and most important stretch of this entire show, and we're kicking it off with "The Laws of Gods & Men," or as its better known as, Tyrion's trial. It's another season 4 episode written by Bryan Cogman, as well as another one that features a gigantic King's Landing event for the whole second half, in this case Tyrion's trial, the next even in the awesome King's Landing arc this season. We get a few brief check-ins with Stannis visiting the Iron Bank and Daenerys realizing that ruling Meereen is going to be much harder than she originally thought. We also get possibly the worst sequence in this season with Yara attempting to lead an attack on the Dreadfort to rescue Theon, and not only does he not recognize her, but somehow Ramsay fights off multiple Ironborn with no shirt on? And then, the entire sequence is used to give Ramsay the ammunition he needs to use Theon to...look, it's a really dumb sequence, it doesn't work, and it's better in hindsight not to talk about it. Instead, we have the star of the episode, and arguably his last great performance and monologue on the show, because Peter Dinklage really brings it this episode, channeling all the hurt, the betrayal and the misery his family's put him through the last couple seasons into the monologue to end all monologues as he calls for trial by combat after Shae's devastating betrayal. Pat & I are covering every episode of this show all the way up until the finale, and it's all covered here on #talkinthrones

  • Talkin Thrones Episode 35 - First of his Name

We're at yet another midpoint, and just given the amount of gangbusters stuff on the horizon, there had to be a lukewarm episode somewhere. Still a great episode, but "First of his Name" definitely wraps up a lot of stuff that we knew was coming before prepping us for the final six episodes. Cersei is making moves in King's Landing with Margaery, Tywin & Oberyn. Daenerys makes a decision concerning Meereen. Littlefinger & Sansa arrive in the Eyrie, where secrets are revealed about the start of the Stark Lannister conflict. Brienne learns more about Podrick Payne, while the Hound gives Arya more life lessons. It ends with the Night's Watch attack on Craster's, wrapping up that story arc that started way back in Season 2. • Episode 122 - Top 10 Movies 2021

We're at the end of January, which means we had one last top 10 list to go, and this time, it's Top 10 Best Movies of 2021! As you guys can probably guess, just given the caliber of movies we had to work with, this was a difficult list to come by. Also unlike last year, we didn't have to many similar entries, but if anything it just made it more fun. Chris & Dom each break down their top 10 favorite movies from the year of 2021 and what made them work out for them in this constantly changing time of media, what even is a movie versus a TV show and what the lasting impact of the 2021 HBO Max Theater/Streaming drop will be. • Talkin; Thrones Episode 34 - Oathkeeper

A smaller, more intimate set up episode, but an incredible one to say the least. Bryan Cogman returns to write the episode that definitely set the precedent for deviating the most from the books as far as character motivations go. Daenerys takes over Meereen with a cool maneuver from Grey Worm. Jon arranges to take a party north of the wall to kill the Night's Watch mutineers at Craster's, who also happen to have captured Bran. In King's Landing, Jaime is being torn in every direction between his love for both his siblings, and relents by sending Brienne to find Sansa and keep her safe. Olenna & Littlefinger both reveal their parts in Joffrey's death to Margaery & Sansa, and we also get out introduction to the Night King.
