Knife Locking Mechanisms
Liner Lock- thin leaf spring style lock that folds in from the side of the handle. usually made for lighter duty.
Back lock- has a steel bar that runs the tang of the handle and locks down into the blade. Made for medium duty.
Compression lock- leaf spring design just like a liner lock, but is on the back side of the knife for safety and ease of use. Light to medium duty.
Frame lock- is a thick leaf spring design usually steel or titanium that fold in from one side of the handle. Medium to heave duty.
Button lock- usually for auto knives has a steel cross pin running between the two handles, easy to operate. Medium duty.
