  • Patterns: Why Do People Keep Making the Same Mistakes?

Why Do People Keep Making the Same Mistakes?

Why does the same thing keep happening?

In this episode of Talking Out the Window, Sabrina Michelle takes a closer look at patterns, repetition, unconscious habits and the consequences that can follow them.

A loose dog, a neighborhood search, a fox moving through the night and observations from the same intersection become starting points for a bigger question:

How do we know when something is bad luck, a one-time mistake or a pattern worth paying attention to?

One event doesn’t tell us someone’s whole story. Repetition however, can give us information.

Sabrina explores how familiar behaviors can become automatic, how we can mistake assumptions for patterns and why self-reflection matters when we find ourselves asking, “Why does this keep happening to me?”

This isn’t about blaming ourselves for everything that happens in our lives. Circumstances matter. Other people matter. Things happen that are outside our control.

But wherever we have influence, awareness gives us an opportunity to make a different choice.

Sometimes the most useful question isn’t “Who’s to blame?”

    It’s:

“What keeps happening before this happens?”

A judge-free conversation about patterns, accountability, self-awareness and the consequences we may not recognize until they’re already here.

  • Attention: What Are You Missing While You’re Looking?

Where is your attention and what is it costing you?

In this episode of Talking Out the Window, Sabrina Michelle reflects on something she witnessed from her window: a parent walking ahead of a young child while focused on a phone.

One ordinary moment raised some uncomfortable questions about attention, distraction, emotional intelligence and awareness.

What happens when the virtual world becomes more compelling than the reality happening right in front of us? When does distraction become a pattern? And how do we know when we’re observing a situation versus allowing our own history and fears to shape what we’re seeing?

This isn’t about judging a stranger.

    It’s about attention.

Because reality continues to happen whether we’re paying attention or not and sometimes what we miss isn’t dramatic at all. It may be a conversation, a warning sign, a child’s moment of connection or an opportunity to simply be present.

Sabrina Michelle explores the difference between awareness, fears, observation, assumption and why regulating ourselves matters when we’re trying to understand what we see.

A judge-free conversation about attention, accountability and the things happening right in front of us.

Pull up a chair. Look out the window.

What has your attention and what might you be missing?
