This is an impromptu recorded session of an after-conversation with the audience members who joined the Academic Integrity Conversations Vodcast Ep 2 at University of Wollongong in Dubai. Dated 27 January 2023.
The Banter follows a vodcast recording on the topic of AI content generators and conversations surrounding it. It is moderated by me, with special guest speakers Dr Mai El Barachi (UOWD) and Professor Grace McCarthy (UOW Australia) joined by ENAi Working Group Centre for Academic Integrity Faculty Executive Committee Chair and Instructor at UOWD Ajrna Hysaj and student champions Akshita Bhatia and Neha Hemnani.
Why are so many educators pushing the panic button on AI content generators? Should we jump the caravan to join them or should we take a step back to realise how we can make our students future-ready? In this podcast join me as I banter on about some of the sensational headlines from the academic world since Microsoft announced their bid to invest in OpenAI's ChatGPT in January 2023.
Leaders who have plagiarised in their past are such a pet peeve of mine! If we expect better from our students, shouldn't we first walk the walk and be the role models? In this podcast join me as I banter some about leaders getting to positions of power with a tainted academic history of plagiarism!
Faking it! In this podcast I banter on about fake degrees - it's raining fake! On the heels of Degree Fraud Awareness Week in July 2020 and following the PIA pilots' scandal in Pakistan, this podcast looks at the problem of fake degrees and asks the difficult question - who's responsibility is it?
