This episode discusses overconsumption and what it means for households, regions, countries and the planet. The second part of the podcast discusses taxes and the price we pay for public services. Today's consumer society has encouraged all of us to buy more than we need. Food, fashion, water, fuel and everything else is overconsumed and there is a cost beyond the price we pay for goods and services.

The cost of the state is supported through taxation. Most modern states are taking a larger proportion of income to support the costs of maintaining a social contract. What can we do to improve public services without increasing taxes?

This short podcast is for anybody who wants to know how to develop an argument. If you make claims you must have evidence to justify them. Conclusions drawn need to weigh up the evidence for and against the proposition which is the premise of your argument. We may use logic to do so. Remember statements can be logical but false as well as true. So you need to be critical when you listen to arguments. For example you may here politicians make claims but before you accept their argument you should weigh up the evidence they provide, if any. Sceptical is a good starting point when you listen to any argument. 

We look at how rising energy bills are impacting everyday lives. It is not just energy it affects employment, business and it is inflationary. This is why it can be very damaging in an interconnected world.
