Godsmack & Iron Maiden: The Legends Keep Bringing It Live
Two bands. Two generations. Decades of heavy music—and neither is ready to quietly fade away.
On this episode of Talking SHHH, we’re talking Godsmack and Iron Maiden, their recent and upcoming shows, changing lineups, massive catalogs, and what it means to see these bands at this stage of their careers.
Godsmack is moving into a new era without longtime members Shannon Larkin and Tony Rombola. Iron Maiden is celebrating 50 years with the Run For Your Lives tour and a setlist loaded with classics and deep cuts from their legendary early catalog.
We get into:
🔥 Godsmack's new chapter
⚔️ Maiden's 50-year legacy
🥁 Life after Shannon Larkin and Nicko McBrain
🎸 Hits vs. deep cuts
🤘 The songs that HAVE to stay in the set
🎟️ Why we still keep buying tickets
💀 And whether these bands are becoming even more important as live acts
And the ultimate question:
Godsmack and Iron Maiden are playing your town on the same night. You can only see ONE. Which ticket are you keeping?

What actually makes a band alternative?
On this episode of Talking SHHH Show, we go from the underground roots of R.E.M., The Cure and the Pixies to the explosion of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden—and into Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, Green Day, Oasis, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park and more.
We dig into the scenes that shaped the movement, including Seattle, Chicago and Southern California; debate the biggest bands and albums; look at some surprising record sales; and ask where punk, grunge, industrial, Britpop, alternative metal and nu metal actually fit.
Does Alice in Chains belong in metal? Is Green Day alternative or punk? Do Linkin Park and Papa Roach count? And if bands like Nirvana were selling tens of millions of albums, what exactly were they still an alternative to?
It's part music history, part argument and plenty of personal opinion as we try to answer one deceptively difficult question:
Making a movie is hard. Making the movie that comes after the movie everyone loved might be even harder.
In “The Stress of Sequels,” we look at the challenge from a filmmaker’s perspective—the pressure of expectations, the temptation to simply repeat what worked, and the nearly impossible task of giving audiences something familiar while still making it feel fresh.
How do you expand the story without losing what made the original special? Do you go bigger, darker, louder—or resist the urge entirely? And what happens when fan expectations start shaping the creative process?
It’s a conversation about creativity, pressure, storytelling, and why sometimes the toughest words in filmmaking are:
“Okay… now make another one.”

More than three decades later, Queensrÿche’s Operation: Mindcrime remains one of the most ambitious and complete concept albums in heavy music.
From the opening moments of “I Remember Now” through “Revolution Calling,” “Eyes of a Stranger,” “I Don’t Believe in Love,” and the unforgettable “Suite Sister Mary,” the album feels less like a collection of songs and more like a film unfolding through your speakers.
We look back at what made Operation: Mindcrime so powerful—the story, Geoff Tate’s incredible vocal performance, Chris DeGarmo and Michael Wilton’s guitar work, the atmosphere, and a record that somehow feels just as relevant today as it did in 1988.
Why has Operation: Mindcrime endured when so many albums from that era haven't?

This week on the Talking SHHH Show, Scott, Steven, and Chris each reveal their personal ultimate no-skip albums and debate what separates a great record from a legendary one.
Expect passionate opinions, deep cuts, classic albums, a few surprises, and plenty of friendly disagreements as the guys compare their lists, defend their picks, and celebrate the albums that demand to be played from the opening track to the final note.
Along the way, they'll discuss:

I walked into the venue knowing very little about Castle Rat, but by the time their set was over, they had my full attention. Sometimes the biggest surprise of the night isn't the headliner. It's the band that earns a new fan before the main event even begins.
