We are back this week with friend of the show, Jacquetta Brown from HRMC giving invaluable advice, tips and info on tax advice and HRMC help to tradespeople. With year end coming up, there is plenty to talk about and some info about grants and support which you might find useful.
On this week's show, Andy is joined by decorator, Trevor and Brickie, Richie to talk about if there is a skills-gap in construction. Is it difficult to find enough highly skilled trades in each profession or is there shortcomings in training up the next generation? We would love to know your thoughts and if you agree with the thoughts on today's show.

This week, Andy was joined by sparkie, Karen Boom to talk about the current position of women within the construction industry. Have things moved on in recent years and how do you encourage young women to consider taking up a trade. The comments were flooded with experiences good and bad this week, with lots to take away and champion. We'd love to know your thoughts.

On Talking Trade this week, we are talking tools. Andy is joined by Neal, a joiner, to try and come to a decision, cast some advice and see what the On The Tools audience had to say. 'Buy cheap buy twice' seemed to be the sentiment but there are many other factors to think about: warranty, wear, use, type of job and theft to name a few. Listen in and see if you agree with the consensus.

This week on Talking Trade, Andy is joined by Brickie James and Plumber Jayson to talk through money and if each trade is paid fairly. Are any trades paid too little and are any trades paid too much? Looking at you Sparks. It was a lively debate but we would love to hear your thoughts.

On Talking Trade this week, Andy is joined by former bricklaying apprentice Beth Skinner, plumbing apprentice Carl Ladd and Chris Simmons from Square Mile Builders. Each at different stages and with experiences of apprenticeships, the team discuss in depth the best and worst parts of apprenticeships, the problems with getting young people into the industry and the trade off of short, or medium, term financial hardship for long term gain. It is a subject that will always be relevant to the industry and one we likely return to again later in the year. What do you think is wrong with apprenticeships?

Why do we find it so hard to talk about mental health? This week's show is sponsored by our friends over at Toolstation and is in aid of Time To Talk Day 2021. Featuring Harry Mallinder of the Northampton Saints, Andy is also joined by electrician, Mat, discussing overcoming the stigma of mental health and addressing just why we find it so hard to talk about. The crossovers between rugby and construction are deeper than may first be thought and the audience chime in with their own experiences and struggles.

This week, Andy is joined by Jacquetta Brown, a representative from HRMC, to discuss the upcoming self-assessment deadline and a multitude of other financial advice, aimed at tradespeople. With COVID continuing to impact individual's livelihoods, this is full of vital info help available, self-employment advice and if that vital 4th grant might be turning up soon?
This week, Andy is joined by decorator's Trevor and Russell to discuss quotes and more specifically, if tradespeople should be charging for them? The jury is out. Is it a fact of the industry? Does the size of the job play a part? Should you charge and then offer the fee off the price of the work if pursued? Listen to hear what the audience thinks.
This week, Andy is joined by Tim Reading from VIY - an organisation that delivers ‘early intervention’ construction sector employability skills and careers training for 10-14 year olds in schools. How do we get more young people into construction? That is the question. But instead of just looking for problems, Tim, and Andy, want to find the solution.
