In this sermon, Vahe unpacks Jacob's dream where he sees a ladder/staircase linking heaven and earth. He unpacks the extraordinary truth that God comes down the staircase to be with Jacob (Genesis 28:10-22, NRSV). Jesus references this dream in John 1:51 and makes the amazing claim that He is the One who comes down from heaven to be with us. Jesus is God with us. Vahe further describes practices he has found helpful to grow in our awareness of God's presence with us. Finally, he encourages us to hold on to the truth that God is committed to us, is with us, and is for us. As we do so, we are promised both freedom from fear and strength to persevere.

In this message, we explore the meaning of freedom and what it signifies when Jesus proclaims that he has come to bring freedom to the oppressed.

In this message we look again at Jesus’ desire to not only ‘release to captives’ but bring recovery and restoration to our lives. In particular we focus on how learning to forgive others is such a powerful way of experiencing healing in our own lives.

Luke 4 teaches that Jesus has come to bring recovery to our lives. In this sermon, we look at different facets of what that means, including how Jesus restores our identity, our ability to represent God on earth and finally how he has come to make us whole.

As we continue our series on the church being good news in the city, we consider what it means to be a community that helps people come home to God.

In Luke 4 Jesus announces that he has come to being good news to the world, and that part of that good news is ‘ release for the captives.’ In this message we explore what it means to come home to God, and how everyone of us, no matter who we are or what we’ve done, can do that.

Luke 4 teach us that Jesus came to bring good news which means the church is meant to a blessing in the city. But how do we do that? What should we actually do? In this message we explore 5 practical ways that all believers can be good news where they live.

Jesus announces his mission in Luke 4 as being flooded with good news. He has come to bring forgiveness, freedom, release and healing to any who will receive him. This week we begin a series talking about what the church is called to, and why we are here in the great city of Rotterdam.

The way Luke sets up his gospel is as a journey. Not just Jesus’ journey, but a journey for us to follow. As we follow Jesus on his way to the cross - as he walks and talks and works miracles - our lives too are transformed. We grow in our understanding of who Jesus is, and our identity in Him. We learn to surrender, and we begin to see the kingdom of God at work.

In this sermon, Vahé explores how Jesus invites us all into a life of divine generosity and to explore the ever-ending depths of God’s goodness and love towards us. Vahé emphasises Jesus’ shocking and most comforting claim: that this life of blessing with God (life in the kingdom of heaven) starts now.
