We chat about the innate responsibility that physicians feel when guiding situations with escalating patients, and how learning lessons over time create better instincts on how to manage the danger and protect the staff.

PART 2 of the situation Ammon and Bailey found themselves in...being subpoenaed to court. They deep dive into the psychological game of seeing this person again, the fears of being in the same room again, and then the awful accusation the defense tried to swing.  We need to do better. 

This episode I sat down with Ammon and Bailey, two Emergency Department staff members who lived through an INTENSE situation.  We discuss the dynamic of the experience, the thoughts and feelings, and the aftermath.  Part two will release next week and go into more details of what happened in court!

Dr. Tiffany Proffitt and I continue to discuss some "issues" within the system, and the dangers of working the front-lines.  From obscenities, to our favorite insults, to the average "life span" of an ER medicine physician and why so many  people are choosing to leave the medical field.  We will always respect HIPAA and again are not mentioning any specific organization, as these scenarios and examples are a frequent experience across the board, unfortunately.

Tiffany shared her medical school experience regarding violence in healthcare, a story of a very pleasant patient (NOT), and how to care for your team when she realized she is the one supposed to "handle it", and what that means from a resource level and how it impacts more than just the one patient.
