After the slap at the Oscars ceremony where Will Smith leapt to the defence of his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, Tanja focuses on this apparent human need to ridicule, to stand above, to look down upon and denigrate others, usually women! Although everyone can be a target of this kind of harassment, most cases tend to victimise women or girls and this victimisation, bullying or mobbing, can lead to tragic consequences. So why do people, young and old, still feel as though they have a right to judge another person on the basis of looks, appearance, their body or any other embellishment that may alter or emphasise their mood for that day?It is an emotional topic because for far too long, people who choose to express their personas in a certain way are criticised for doing so, usually with complete ignorance, by those who are ill-qualified to stand as judges. It is also possible to say that even those who are qualified should remain silent. Afterall why go out of our way to make someone else’s life uncomfortable or even downright depressing?Tanja and I usually talk about points of interest where gender lines come together, mesh, love or aggravate.
