One coaching tool that we use is called Tapping (also known as EFT or Emotional Freedom technique. In this episode we tap on how to cope emotionally with a weight loss “stall”.
If you are new to tapping, this might feel a little weird at first!
Rest assured that even if you are new to tapping, tapping is not new in the world. In fact, tapping is a well-established and researched method for reducing anxiety and helping you heal.
Tapping is an alternative treatment for both physical symptoms and emotional distress and is somewhat like acupuncture with no needles. Essentially, you will be using light acupressure as you lightly tap your fingers on certain acupressure points - or meridians - on your head, face and upper body.
Tapping is something you can do by yourself almost anywhere. Basically, you will be using your index fingers to tap certain points on your face and upper body as you follow along with the videos and repeat the script.
Don't worry! It's easier than it sounds.
The script you repeat will begin with some negative-sounding thoughts and fears. But, these negative statements are important because they help you "clear out" and release the emotional and mental weight of whatever is or has been holding you back and keeping you stuck.
You will notice that the statements you say out loud get more and more hopeful and positive. You will be replacing your fears and negative thoughts with positive ones! Hooray!
In our experience teaching this method to hundreds of women, we know that you may need to repeat the videos at least 3-5 times to begin to feel like you are "getting it" and also to begin to notice the favorable results. The more you watch the videos and follow along by repeating the script out loud as you tap on your meridians, the more healing you receive.
