August, his granddaughter, is returning to Prosperous House to farewell her grandfather, just as the miners arrive to plunder the land for tin. While through the letters of Reverend Ferdinand Greenleaf we are taken back to the founding of Prosperous House and see exposed the racism and discrimination at the heart of these relations a century earlier.
