Amy Fenton Lee discusses what faith communities need to do to be welcoming to children with disabilities and their families. It's more than the building's physical infrastructure, but the content of worship services and educational programs, as well as the understanding of parishioners. Peter McKechnie, the director of the Knoxville, Tennessee regional office of Joni and Friends, talks about his upcoming workshop at TASH's Faith and Flourishing conference. He will talk about why faith is important to full inclusion for people with disabilities and cover the five steps congregations need to take to be equipped to evangelize to people effected by disability.

Lyle Romer recently retired as Executive Director of the Seattle-area community living agency, Total Living Concept. In this episode he reflects on his 42 years of experience providing person-centered support to people with disabilities and the future of community living under the Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services Waiver.

Jenny Root was presented with the Alice H. Hayden Emerging Leader Award at TASH's 2015 Annual Conference. This interview is a follow-up to her presentation, "Beyond the Basics: Access to Mathematics Problem-Solving for Students with Severe Disability". In 2008 some of Prof. Root's colleagues undertook a survey of the research conducted from 1975 to 2005 on teaching mathematics to students with disabilities. It's been ten years since the period of the initial survey and now the original team is bring the survey up to date. Prof. Root will tell us about what we knew as of 2005 and discuss what we have learned in the ensuing ten years. She will also discuss what teachers and parents should know about the current state of the art and how they can be prepared in the classroom and going into IEP meetings.
