In the wake of a cold front, residents in the north-central United States endured temperatures well below normal on Thursday. Over the next few days, those low temperatures may not be the only sign of winter. And big weather changes are in store for the Northeast following a stretch of mild autumn days as a coastal storm is forecast to take shape quickly and strengthen just offshore on Friday into Saturday -- and forecasters say the weather system will pack a wintry punch for the region.
