The Wyness Shuffle

Tastes Like Promotion

Listen Later

We've all been patiently waiting for the league title, and patiently waiting for this season review podcast, which took so long to put together because we had so much to pack into it! But while patience is bitter, its fruit is sweet. It took until the final day of the season to complete the climb back from relegation and near-extinction, but now we’re all enjoying the satisfying taste of promotion.

Pod regulars Moff, Sandy, Stevie, Lee and AY raise several glasses to Alan Savage, Scott Kellacher and everyone involved with ICT, and are joined by Caley Thistle legends old and new to review and celebrate the climax to season 2025-26. Also on the menu in this banquet of a podcast, the now 32 years of ICT references, wild conjecture and mild distraction. Let’s shuffle!

00:01:15 – Introduction: the final whistle. How did we all feel when the final whistle sounded on May 2nd and promotion and the league title were confirmed?

00:05:05 – The Manager. After a personal message from Scott Kellacher, we discuss his achievements over the past two seasons.

00:20:35 – What’s it all about, Alfie? Fresh off the plane from Ibiza, Supporters’ Player of the Year Alfie Stewart joins us to talk about celebrating the title win, the manager and his teammates.

00:37:20 – Game by Game. We look back in detail at the final game of the season, and in less detail at some of the April matches.

01:01:25 – SLO Scott Young. ICT’s Supporters’ Liaison Officer reflects on the season’s achievements, but also on the pitch invasion and violence that marred the end to the Hamilton game, and the potential consequences of this for the club.

01:18:00 – Crowd trouble. The panellists’ perspectives on the disorder at the Hamilton game and the deeper issues underlying it.

01:33:30 – Fans’ voices (1). A selection of ICT supporters share their feelings about the season, the title win and the heroes that got us there.

01:37:50 – What yi sayeen? – Danny Devine. ICT’s long-serving centre half and title-winning captain talks to Moff about what it means to win another medal with the club, his past achievements and what the future holds.

02:06:48 – The Squad. The league winning squad analysed, player by player.

02:44:15 – The Saviour. We take time to pay tribute to the man who saved Caley Thistle, Sir Alan Savage.

02:52:11 – Fans’ voices (2). More thoughts from the ICT fanbase, via the magic of social media.

02:58:48 – The Championship. The anticipation starts here. With only four players under contract for next season, who will sign up and who will move on? Who are the players rumoured to be signing? Which grounds are we looking forward to visiting? And where will we finish? More to come in our epic pre-season preview…

03:11:00 – Final thoughts.

There's it! Thank-you for listening throughout 25/26 and we'll see you back in the Championship!
