🪄 "Magic" Tattoo Dave Knapp started his tattoo career under the tutelage of Dave Flowers at Guru Tattoo. Since then, he's had a storied career not only tattooing in many shops across the 408, but also in machine building, pigment production, as well touring as a music tech for many different musicians. The latter of which caused him to cross paths with the one and only Paramore and give each member their first tattoo.
Today you can find Dave at The Holy Scythe Tattoo in the Rose Garden neighborhood. This is part two of his interview.

🏍️ Dylan Sandstrom's dad dragged him to Tattoo John's San Jose Tattoo on the regular when Dylan was just a boy. It was there he was exposed to both the biker and Americana tattoo styles. The son of a biker and always fascinated by low riders, Dylan began drawing automobiles of all kinds. In early adulthood, he found himself in Arizona where he learned to tattoo before making his way back to the Bay Area. A couple of shops later, he found himself at Integrity Tattoo in San Jose. When things went south there, he and the rest of the crew were invited by Paco Excel to join the artists at Death Before Dishonor. Today, Dylan tattoos out of his private studio in Hollister, CA still motivated by the same motifs and icons he saw on the walls at San Jose Tattoo.

Little did he know, he'd eventually be tattooing with those sam artists. Now based in Vancouver, WA, Ike still visits San Jose frequently, typically guesting at Eleventh Dimension Tattoo Arts.

🌵 Born in Massachusetts, raised in New Mexico, and settled in San Jose, Daniel Dagones is a tattooer with a unique perspective on his art. He learned the craft in his hometown of Las Cruces in the early 2000s. But in 2011 when he moved to the 408, he was inspired by the quality of tattoos here and his work truly became his own.
He's been tattooing at Current Tattooing for over a decade now and he's also a co-founder of San Jose's own tattoo ink company, Magic Pigment Company!

San Francisco or Oakland is staggering. But how many can you name from San Jose? Let's fix that! Like most things in Bay Area popular culture, Santa Clara County—affectionately called "the 408"—has made rich, diverse, yet overshadowed offerings to the world of body art.
