James Smith (Dreams of Mythic Fantasy) passed yesterday. He was one of the early OSR bloggers and his return to the blogging scene in November of 2018 was long overdue. God bless. Far too soon.

Verbal, Somatic, Material - the three types of spell components in AD&D 1e. How much of that has carried over to the OSR clones. Segments, spell interruption, shield size and number of use - we've dropped them all.

Gizmodo and its associated properties were sold earlier today to a private equity firm for less than half the price that was paid for them in 2016. Expect a significant number of layoffs and resurgence of#learntocode.

In today's installment in the Designers & Makers Fireside Chats I sit down with Glynn Seal - aka Monkeyblood. Glynn is one of the premier mapmakers in the OSR and his Midderlands setting is second to none. Be warned - our recording app hiccuped about 27 minutes into the episode, but we recovered. We talk everything and anything related RPG and old school gaming.

Gail is still at it. More than a dozen disjointed postings on Facebook today about DeSanto, Luke Gygax and even little ole me. Could it be that the DeSanto lawsuit and the revelation of a second will that does not leave the rights to the IP with Gail (or her designated inheritor) after her death is pushing her to the edge. Or is it manipulation, and attempt to appear incompetent to get out of the lawsuit and the contract she signed. I was forwarded an interesting PM right before I recorded this which may change your mind...

When a Kickstarter funds at $1.3M and still fails to fully fulfill and needs a white knight like Chaosium to buy them and their obligations out, you know its just another day in the RPG Community ;)
