The source of quarrels and fights among Christians is always the same. There is an internal war within the believer. A fight to love God but also to love the world. James gives us the way to win this fight, drawing near to God.

We must recognize the war inside of us before we start fighting the wars outside of us. James warns us that our passions are at war within us causing fights and quarrels with others.

James warns us to be careful who we allow to teach.

James compares the wisdom from heaven to the wisdom of the earth. We see how the wisdom of God brings life to His people and ultimately leads to true peace in our lives.

James lays out some driving principles about those who want to teach and the danger of the tongue, and why it is impossible for man to tame the tongue.

The tongue has the power to direct, destroy and deceive. It reveals what is in our hearts and we must turn to God to tame our tongues.

By understanding what it means to be justified by grace through faith we begin to see how faith we begin to see how faith and works are interconnected, not separate.

James shows us why prejudice is incompatible with genuine saving faith.

James makes a very simple yet powerful point. Having faith in Jesus and showing favoritism or partiality are not compatible.
