Knowing who God is and what He has done drastically changes how we live life.

As we come to the close of this letter, the Apostle John, was calling back the church to foundational things. He concludes this letter with final notes of positive conviction. The last few verses repeat again and again the phrase, we know.

We look at 1st John 5:1-5 and see how faith, love, and obedience all work together to allow the believer to overcome the world.

God, in His power and wisdom is accomplishing His plan and purposes. We have a responsibility to join with God by faith in His plan and purposes.

God has said something to us, God has done something for us, and God is doing something in us.

Loving one another is righteousness in action. It is the appropriate expression of a regenerated life.

If we truly know Jesus we will love each other.

Walking through 1 John 2 starting in verse 18 we take a look at defining characteristic truths of Jesus and the gnostic teachings that were attached to those truths.

You cannot love the world and God at the same time, it's one or the other. Don speaks passionately to love God, that He is of utmost importance and that we should be loving Him more than any other person or thing in this world.
