Professor Taiarahia Black supervises Masters and Phd doctoral students at Te Whare Wananga of Awanuiarangi. He is a composer and in the early 1980's he completed his research into the historical narratives of Tuhoe waiata. He offers up some insight into the meaning of Maori songs and the composers behind them.
