The Far North iwi Te Rarawa is about to embark on a government funded project to restore toheroa stocks on Te Oneroa a Tohe, 90 Mile Beach, to numbers last seen in the early 20th century. The shellfish are rare and widely regarded as a delicacy. The former chair of Te Runanga o Te Rarawa, Haami Piripi, explains how the project, called Tohe te Tohe, will work.
