Perspective Matters by Steve Adams

I placed an online order with a national retail chain.  One item was stocked in the local store, but the other was not, so I was careful to choose the Shipping option as opposed to the Delivery option.

Today, I received a note telling me the local store had one of the parts out for delivery. I shook my head in disbelief.  Sure enough, within 15 minutes of the message, a smiling lady pulled her car into the driveway.  I saw her coming and walked out to meet her with my head hung low.  She noticed and inquired why I was disappointed. I apologized for running her out to deliver an $8 part.

We laughed and she shared with me how they brought several deliveries and that it was not a special trip, but she went further thanking ME for the wonderful experience, for supporting her ability to earn a wage and for the jovial conversation that lifted her spirits.  What I thought was a needless waste was in fact a welcomed boost.

 "Hate speech" is in the ear of the beholder
Before his murder, Charlie Kirk put it bluntly: “Hate speech does not exist legally in America. There is ugly speech, gross speech, there’s evil speech, and all of it is protected by the First Amendment to keep America free.” He was right. There’s no such thing as hate speech in American law. The term is a political weapon, not a legal category.  For instance, the “Matthew Shepard hate crimes prevention Act 2009 was the first time Congress even tried to formalize the concept. Less than two decades before that it was just dissenting thought. Murder is murder. Assault is assault, vandalism is vandalism. And the hate label doesn’t make the crime is worse. Former FBI director James Comey hated President Trump. Hatred of someone is not illegal. But when that hatred turns to other things. like for instance, leftist ideology led a young man to kill Charlie Kirk. Hatred caused Comey to invite General Flynn into his office to entrap him, indict him, and ruin his life. Hatred caused James Comedy to support the Russian collusion hoax, even though Comey knew none of it was true. But now we know that Brennan and Comey had purged themselves when they testified under oath the Steel Dossier did not form the assessment for information to the intelligence community. They lied they’re going to have to pay for that. But I don’t think justice will truly be served until Obama and Hillary are both in prison for the treason they committed!

This afternoon I worked the election polls in my hometown of Lynchburg, Virginia. During my two hours there I asked people if they would like a Republican ballot. Some people gratefully accepted it, some people politely refused it. But a lot of people were extraordinarily angry when I asked them if they would like a Republican ballot. Comments were usually, “I would never vote for a Republican. They gave no reasons. Several said they were against the violence and hatred of Charlie Kirk, and he deserved what he got. When I ask if they could quote any hatred or act of violence, they refused. 

God told Christians not to look upon evil. I’m thinking that perhaps Democrats have been told “not to look upon good. If they look at the life of Charlie Kirk, they would see good. This election truly is Light Against Darkness.

 Most people have goals. I have goals even at age 81. Charlie Kirk had goals to bring young people back to Christ, back to patriotism. But other people have goals that are for the destruction of America. George Soros is the principal person I’m thinking of. Soros made his money through currency manipulation. He ruined entire economies and he became a billionaire in doing so. He’s been here in America a long time now. But just since 2016 he and his son Alexander poured over $80 million into groups that are tied to terrorism and extremist violence. One is called the Ruckus Society. They trained activists who did the property destruction and sabotage during the 2020 riots. What he’s trying to do is to bring down the United States of America and destroy our freedoms.

“Inflation” by Steve Adams

Our community built a meeting hall and a softball field right across from our farm.  This was our social activity and was very busy on game days, but during the week was devoid of activity save one lonely but inviting Pepsi machine. I admit, mowing hay in the front fields was a temptation to me as I would see that shiny, blue, well-lit machine each time I made a round. I would save my quarters and on rare hot dusty days, I might drive the tractor over to the ball field for a cold refreshing cola.  It was a GREAT deal, a small shiny quarter in exchange for a wonderfully cold, refreshing, fizzy soft drink.  One hot mid-summer day, I made the trip to the ball field, walked up to the machine, inserted my quarter and ….. nothing happened.  I messed around with the machine for some time until I noticed to my horror a nice shiny, fresh, new sticker which had in bold black letters the number 35. My introduction to INFLATION!!

One of Charlie Kirk’s final posts was frightening. He said the assassination culture is spreading on the left. 48% of liberals say it would be at least somewhat justified to murder Elon Musk. 55% said the same thing about Donald Trump.  In California, activists are naming a ballot measure after Luigi Mangione. You know, the guy who killed the health executive. The left is being whipped into a violent frenzy. Whether losing an election or losing a court case justifies a maximally violent response. This is the natural outgrowth of left-wing protest culture. Tolerating violence and mayhem for years on end. The cowardice of local prosecutors and school officials have turned the left into a ticking time bomb. That bomb went off for Charlie and so many others.

Charlie Kirk tried to have polite conversations with liberals. He was well organized and low key. He let the facts tell the story. But then he was murdered by the male lover of a drag queen. But Democrats are demanding that Republicans tone down the rhetoric. Charlie’s rhetoric was about as low as he can go. He never called names, he never said swear words, but a transgender antifa killed him anyway. The transgenders are dangerous. One killed two children at the Catholic Church in Minneapolis and wounded 18 more. Then state House Representative Melissa Portman voted against the Democrats. Two days later she was murdered. The Democrats pretend that both sides are taking to violence. No it’s just one! Until Democrats take ownership of burning, looting, murdering, and antifa killing political opponents, this problem isn’t going to stop.
