The story shows a "different side of school life" through a chain of events that begins when an elderly substitute teacher is found dead in the faculty lounge of a high school. Mathieu, who's a Houston-area teacher, wrote the 2017 novel, Moxie, which was turned into a Netflix movie in 2021.
