Hello and welcome to the Pro Painter Podcast! This week, Nick invites Doug Hershberger from Sarasota, Florida. Doug’s painting roots come from his father. Growing up he did occasional painting jobs, although he pursued a professional career in Kinesiology to work as an instructor. For a few years he also worked as a school teacher. With money not being as abundant as he would’ve liked, he opened his own painting business: Hershberger Painting. His prior experience helped him get a head start by knowing what market to target in Florida.  Doug finds joy in teaching and training. All of his employees go through a thorough course on how to paint. And yes, he means all employees, even his sales people!He isn’t afraid of employees breaking out to start their own businesses. On the contrary, he encourages competition, as that makes him want to improve and elevate the trade.
